While gamers continue to wait for information on Mass Effect Andromeda, Amazon may have accidentally spoiled the release date thanks to a listing for a companion art book.
Up to this point, Mass Effect Andromeda has been an absolute enigma for gamers as EA and BioWare have continued to keep most details of the game under wraps. Gameplay starved fans finally got their wish as a short video during the PlayStation Pro event revealed the first actual look at the game in motion. While gamers continue to wait till next month for expected information and details to finally be divulged, Amazon may have accidentally given away its actual release date.
According to a recent listing posted on Amazon for Dark Horse Comics’ The Art of Mass Effect Andromeda, the release date of March 21, 2017 can be clearly seen as the books release date. What’s even more interesting about this fact comes from a small piece in the description for the book which states that Dark Horse will release the art book simultaneously with the game. Adding further credibility to this leak is the fact that March 21, 2017 does indeed fall on a Tuesday, a traditional launch day for most games in North America.
March has typically been a big month for AAA video game releases these past few years and this supposed launch date does align with comments previously made by EA CFO Blake Jorgenson earlier this year that Mass Effect Andromeda was being readied for launch sometime during the fourth fiscal quarter which falls somewhere between January and March 2017.
While the evidence appears to be pretty convincing, gamers are urged to take the information with a grain of salt until EA or BioWare confirm the rumors or officially reveal the actual launch date for the game.
Thankfully, it appears that fans won’t have to wait too much longer for answers as BioWare is planning a big celebration on November 7, also known as Mass Effect Day. Thanks to a post on the official Mass Effect Twitter account, fans should expect to see a brand new trailer which will officially mark the beginning of the next chapter in the Mass Effect universe. Pressed for more answers by fans, the account then revealed that Andromeda will feature a deeper level of character customization as well, perhaps on par or even exceeding what the studio previously put out with Dragon Age Inquisition.
What do you make of the leak? Could this be authentic or merely a placeholder until EA gives up the actual launch date? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section below.
