The developer BioWare's General Manager Aaron Flynn confirms the official release date for its forthcoming science fiction video game Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Last night, Mass Effect: Andromeda's producer Michael Gamble coyly revealed that news would be coming today regarding the upcoming installment in BioWare's science fiction series. Now, the information has finally been shared this morning, with the studio announcing that Mass Effect: Andromeda will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 21, 2017 in North America, and on March 23, 2017 in Europe.

BioWare's General Manager Aaron Flynn made the announcement via a blog post on the official website for Mass Effect: Andromeda, explaining the excitement that he and the studio as a whole share for soon being able to have the opportunity to release the game to the franchise's fan base. Plus, Flynn mentioned how the developers at BioWare took home a version of the game over the holidays called the "holiday build," which continues a studio tradition since the nascent stages of the Mass Effect series' creation. Members of the studio played what has been completed so far, with some who "played key roles on the original trilogy" giving the project their endorsement.

With BioWare having officially confirmed the specific time for the launch of Mass Effect: Andromeda, rampant speculation over the game's availability can thankfully be laid to rest. As it happens, just yesterday, an online listing from Microsoft's Xbox Live Rewards website showed the game's release date as being March 31, which led to plenty of rumors about how far along Andromeda is in development, leading to loads of conjecture regarding Andromeda's potential to be ready by then.

Since Mass Effect: Andromeda's release date is not too far from now, BioWare will definitely need to follow through on some recent promises it has made to fans in regards to specific flaws that currently exist in the game. For instance, BioWare's GM Aaron Flynn pledged there would be facial performance improvements for the title's characters before its release, so the studio would do well to show off fresh gameplay video in the coming days that highlights the refinements made.

Speaking of new footage, BioWare has already assured fans that more gameplay video is coming, so it's possible that the studio will make sure the clip focuses on either of Mass Effect: Andromeda's sibling protagonists Scott and Sara Ryder to show that the team is indeed listening to fans and improving the project. The footage has been scheduled to be shown today during NVIDIA’s keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show, but there has been no confirmation as to what it will feature.

Taking into consideration the fact that it's been nearly five years since gaming fans have been privileged to experience a new Mass Effect adventure, it makes perfect sense for Andromeda to be one of the most anticipated video games of 2017. Of course, with BioWare having put forth the official date for its availability as being a little more than two months from now, the excitement is likely to grow even more so.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is scheduled to release on March 21, 2017 in North America, and on March 23, 2017 in Europe for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
