With less than a week to go before Mass Effect: Andromeda's release date, it's safe to presume that the franchise's myriad fans would like to know how smoothly the forthcoming science fiction shooter from BioWare runs on its supported platforms before it goes live. Thankfully, IGN has recently published a video online that offers up a good look at the visual fidelity of the action-RPG in 4K on PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One S, and PC.

As seen in the video below, it seems as if Mass Effect: Andromeda will have the best visuals overall on the PC, as the frame rates appear to be much smoother, in addition to the platform providing the highest clarity for the game's resolution, lighting, and shadows. However, the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One S are no slouches in the graphics department, with the former eking out the latter with its upscaled visual enhancements.

Of course, it's important to note that the above clip is a far cry from actually experiencing Mass Effect: Andromeda on the PC, PlayStation 4 Pro, and Xbox One S platforms, as it depicts compressed video footage instead of truly live gameplay. Nevertheless, it still provides a decent understanding of which platform will provide the greatest visual fidelity.

Although the official launch of Mass Effect: Andromeda won't be until next Tuesday, there will be some fans on PC and Xbox One who get to try the game out early. As it happens, those who have a subscription to EA/Origin Access will get a 10-hour trial beginning tomorrow on March 16. With this being the case, it's quite possible for the gaming world at large to get a better idea of Andromeda's graphics on PC and Xbox One ahead of the game's launch should fans record and upload their own footage onto the Web.

Taking all of this into consideration, it will be interesting to find out how well Mass Effect: Andromeda actually runs on its first day of availability, and whether or not it will fall prey to unforeseen bugs, glitches, frame rate drops, or resolution problems. However, BioWare already has a day one patch in the works that will likely combat these potential woes, so we will have to wait and see which platform truly offers the greatest experience possible for Mass Effect: Andromeda when it hits store shelves.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to launch on March 21, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
