BioWare reveals concept art for the Kett, a brand new alien species that players will encounter throughout the course of Mass Effect: Andromeda's story.

With Mass Effect: Andromeda taking the franchise to a brand new galaxy, the possibilities are endless. Fans are excited to see what new planets they can explore, what new threats they will encounter, and what new alien species they can interact with in the new game. As it stands, BioWare has mostly been keeping its cards close to its chest, just recently revealing a new alien race called the Kett.

The Kett were revealed for Mass Effect: Andromeda as part of the rush of information that has been released for the game since this past N7 Day. Even so, the Kett are still very mysterious, with little information available on them, beyond the fact that they will serve as antagonists that the Ryder siblings and their crew will have to deal with during the adventure.

While the Kett's backstory and their purpose in the galaxy have yet to be revealed, BioWare has spoken at length about the visual design of the creatures. As it turns out, the Kett were created to look more "alien" than the other species that players met in the original Mass Effect trilogy. The Kett were originally designed to be completely naked most of the time, but in an effort to make them a little more relatable, BioWare decided to equip them with armor.

Mass Effect: Andromeda Introduces New Kett Alien Race - Kett face

Otherwise, very little is known about the Kett, and with N7 Day behind us, it's hard to say when fans can look forward to more information on the alien species. Mass Effect: Andromeda is currently slated to release in the first quarter of 2017, with rumors pointing to a release date sometime in March of next year. From now until then, there's only a couple of major gaming events – PlayStation Experience and The Video Game Awards - and there's no guarantee Andromeda will be featured at either one.

However, EA realizes that Mass Effect: Andromeda will be one of its biggest upcoming titles, and will do its best to promote it. So while Andromeda may not be featured at an E3-like event, it's probable that a couple more trailers will be released between now and its release date, especially when one considers the excitement around the game's recent cinematic trailer.

After a flood of information from N7 Day, including the knowledge that Andromeda won't be the start of a new trilogy, fans should be satisfied for awhile. Even so, it will be exciting to learn more about the Kett in future trailers, so fans can discover the role this new alien species will play in the Mass Effect franchise at large.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will be available in Q1 of 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
