A leaked video reportedly from BioWare’s upcoming sci-fi RPG Mass Effect: Andromeda showcases the player character’s ability to move through the game by jetpack.
Although Mass Effect: Andromeda may not be seeing release until the early months of 2017, that has not stopped the title from reaching the higher tiers of plenty of gamers’ most wanted lists. The latest sequel in BioWare’s hugely popular sci-fi RPG series, many fans of the franchise have wondered exactly what new mechanics would be added to the mix. Now, it looks as though the player will be able to move through some parts of the game by jetpack.
It certainly appears that way, as long as would-be players choose to believe a leaked gameplay video that surfaced recently. NeoGAF member Taker34 took to the site to share a video they had discovered via the website of a developer who is currently working on Mass Effect: Andromeda. If the brief clips of gameplay – which can be found over on the NeoGAF thread – are accurate, then players may be in for a fast-paced treat when the game releases.
However, at the moment it’s not quite clear exactly when this footage was originally taken. According to another NeoGAF user, named shinobi602, the gameplay clip was actually from 2014, as opposed to the most recent build of the game. This user then suggested that the game does not “look like this now,” although no mention is made as to whether this gameplay feature will still be included by BioWare in the final version of the game.
It’s not the first time that Mass Effect: Andromeda has suffered at the hands of leaked content recently. In fact, some potentially major details about the game’s setting and basic story surfaced this week through the leak of a customer survey. Stating that players will be leading “the fight for a new home in hostile territory” at the head of a team of explorers, the report certainly seems to follow on from previous suggestions that the title would revolve around an entirely new set of species.
The jetpack reveal, if it proves to be accurate, will certainly bring a change of pace to the third-person proceedings. However, fans of the Mass Effect franchise will not entirely be left in unfamiliar territory, in spite of the adventure taking place in an entirely new galaxy. After all, whenever gamers get a little bit homesick or pine for Commander Shepard’s adventures, they will at least be able to turn to the all-terrain Mako for a little reminder of the series’ origins.
Nonetheless, it’s going to be a long wait for game to finally see release. With the game now not expected until the first quarter of 2017, Mass Effect fans will have to sit on their hands until more details surface. Hopefully, the title will prove to be as “stunning” as the developer claims.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is expected to release in early 2017 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
