BioWare has added Easter eggs to Mass Effect: Andromeda's multiplayer, literally. To celebrate the holiday, BioWare has replaced the Mass Effect: Andromeda multiplayer in-game loot boxes with Easter baskets. It's unclear if the Easter baskets have gone live in all regions, or if they spawn in every match versus rarely, as BioWare's made no official comment on the change. Have a happy Easter, Pathfinder.

In true Easter egg fashion, BioWare snuck in the change without notice - players were left to discover the fun holiday surprise for themselves. As a result however, there's an air of mystery surrounding the scope of the Easter event. Obviously the only thing that's changed so far is the Easter basket, and while that's likely all that will change it's still causing players to wonder if there are any other additions.

BioWare could have changed the loot that might drop from the Easter egg loot boxes compared to normal Easter baskets. Or some other more  significant change could have been made. The studio managed to sneak the Easter basket by, so who knows what BioWare is capable of in Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Also a mystery is how long the Easter baskets will last. A safe bet would be that they'll change back after the weekend, but if BioWare really want it to feel like a special event then maybe it will stick around a little longer.

To those who played Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, the Easter baskets won't be too much of a surprise. BioWare did similar style events throughout the life-span of the game. The Easter baskets were also in Mass Effect 3, as well as boxes of chocolates for Valentine's day, Jack-o-lanterns for Halloween, and presents for Christmas.

The appearance of Easter baskets in Mass Effect: Andromeda implies that BioWare's planning on future celebratory events as well. BioWare's been pretty quiet about DLC plans for Mass Effect: Andromeda, but the devs have said that multiplayer will receive constant free updates. BioWare's probably not in the mood to talk about it right now anyway, considering it has its full attention on updating the game.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
