There has been a lot of news surrounding Mass Effect 3 recently, not all of it positive. From the leaked demo, to the lack of local co-op support, to the possibility that BioWare will alter the game’s story due to the leak, Mass Effect 3 has seen its share of controversy in the past few weeks. Mass Effect fans need something positive now, something to look forward to. Enter the Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector’s Edition.

The Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector’s Edition was first revealed last June. Though the game’s release remains several months away, BioWare is offering fans an even better look at the Collector’s Edition right now in a new trailer. Stocked with both real-world and in-game goodies, and retailing for just $20 more than the game’s standard edition, the Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector’s Edition is going to be hard to pass up.

The supplies are extremely limited for the Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector’s Edition, so reserving one early if it’s a must-buy is a good thing to do.

I personally have never bought into the whole notion of buying collector’s editions of games; it usually seems like publishers just cram as much stuff into a box as they can and pass it off as a “must-buy” for the consumer. Considering that a good portion of the material in the N7 Collector’s Edition is in-game content, it might be worth it.

Will the same content be available as DLC at a later date? Impossible to know for sure, but I’d venture to say that’s a good possibility. Still, it’s a very impressive Collector’s Edition, to say the least. The one thing that disappoints me is that the hoodie is only available to Commander Shepard. I’d buy that hoodie.

What about our readers? Do you purchase collector’s editions of games? Will you be buying this one?

Mass Effect 3 and the Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector’s Edition will be released March 6, 2012, for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
