Mass Effect 2, the amazing space opera-role playing game developed by BioWare is finally coming to Sony's console on January 18, 2011 - and will be available on retail disc or as a download through PlayStation Network.
Long story short, Mass Effect 2 tells the story of Commander Shepard, hero of the galaxy, on a mission to recruit several individuals to undertake a suicide mission - to stop an alien race from abducting humans throughout the galaxy. Throughout the journey, players meet numerous characters, some of which will join your crew, battle against a variety of enemies, make changes to the galaxy, and maybe even get a taste of romance as well. Check out what we thought of the Xbox 360 version in our review.
A PS3 launch trailer has also been released, have a look-see.
Mass Effect 1 was not made available to PS3 gamers and because of that, there are several key decisions that a player may make before starting the sequel. These decisions will be made available in the Mass Effect Genesis interactive comic available for PS3; however, other plot points made available through side quests are not going to be present in this comic. Although, it is likely that the key decisions will also have an impact not only in Mass Effect 2, but the third game as well.
Those who purchase Mass Effect 2 on PlayStation 3 will also be running on the engine for Mass Effect 3, so they'll be able to get a peek at the kind of graphics we'll see in the third title. In addition, all major DLC available for ME2 will be made available in the PS3 version: 'Overlord,' 'Stolen Memory', and 'Lair of the Shadowbroker', as well as anything that was made available through Mass Effect 2's in-game content provider, the Cerberus Network - so players won't be missing out on Zaeed, either.
Mass Effect 2 is certainly one of the best games to have come out in 2010 - and if you have any inkling of doubt about whether or not to play, take my word for it and check out the demo, you will not be disappointed.
