The Found Forged ID assignment in Mass Effect 2 can be a tricky mission to initiate and complete. Players will need to travel to the Citadel and come across Kalara Tomi. She is a female NPC that will be chatting with another Asari on Level 27. The two Asari will be sitting on the large L couch on that level.

After speaking with Kalara, Shepard's journal will update, and gamers can begin the mission. The only problem is, Kalara appears to be quite a busy person. She only spawns in from time to time, and many in the community are having issues tracking her down.

How To Get Kalara To Spawn

Mass Effect 2 Forged Id

For a little more context, the couch on Level 27 is just opposite of the vehicle bay right next to the stairs. The large couch is hard to miss, as it is right below the Level 27 sign on the wall. A lot of people are having issues finding Kalara in the location, even in the Legendary Edition. Perhaps the developers have her on a spawn timer to make the side mission even more of a challenge to find. Either way, there are several ways to get the elusive Asari to show up.

The most common fix is to finish Thane's loyalty mission. Kalara often will not spawn in otherwise. Those that still can't find her have a few more options. Leaving the Citadel and revisiting the area will sometimes work, and others have had success finding her by completing a mission in the meantime. The only other method to get her to appear is to walk around the area and wait. However, it may take some time for the NPC to finally spawn. As of July 2021 this is still an issue on all platforms and applies to all versions of the game.

Talk To Customs

Mass Effect 2 Kalara

Kalara is not exactly the most friendly NPC in the game, but players will need to offer to help while speaking with her. Renegades will not enjoy speaking to the grumpy Asari. The first thing Shepard will need to do is head down to customs and figure out why Kalara and her friends are being prevented from traveling back to the Asari homeworld.

  • Investigate
  • Investigate -> Risk
  • Who should I talk to?
  • Goodbye.

To get to the customs desk, Shepard will need to walk past Captain Bailey (left of the Zakera Cafe) and through the doors behind him. On the other side, there is a woman at a small reception desk. Follow the steps below from Kalara's location.

  • Walk back toward the vehicle bay
  • Continue down the right side of the bay, walking past Zakera Cafe
  • Take a right at Captain Bailey in C-SEC
  • Walk through the door and continue through the hallway
  • The customs agent will be on the right after the hallway door.

Persuade The Customs Agent

Speak with the female customs agent to get information about the protocols. She will claim that station security protocols are classified. However, the agent agrees to flag the files so that they can temporarily travel back to their home. Follow the dialogue path below to successfully persuade the agent. If players fail to ask the right questions, they will not be able to help the Asari with their predicament.

  • Security seems heavy.
  • Why can't the Asari leave?
  • They're not Geth!

Shepard is right, the lack of flashlight heads is a dead giveaway that Kalara and her friend are not Geth infiltrators. After speaking with the customs agent, gamers can return to the Asari and tell them the good news. Kalara Tomi will say that she is thankful when she hears the news. Although, the two NPCs could express at least a little emotion.

  • They'll let you leave.
  • Friendly persuasion.

For their effort, players will receive 40 experience points. There are Paragon points up for grabs if people follow the dialogue above. Although, gamers can choose to go the Renegade route. After Kalara's rude generalizations, maybe she deserves to be stuck on the Citadel.
