Insomniac Games is working on giving fans a Marvel game featuring one of the most beloved superheroes of all time in the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine. While the game itself seems to be delivering a dark and gritty storyline for Logan, fans are wondering where the game fits in Wolverine’s long publication history. Whether the events take place prior to him joining the X-Men or not, Marvel’s Wolverine could use a particular character to tie-in the game to Marvel’s Spider-Man, or even help introduce the X-Men in a future game.

Deadpool is arguably one of Wolverine’s toughest rivals, with the two constantly butting heads in the comics to the delight of fans. With Marvel’s Wolverine seemingly going in a darker direction in terms of theme, many believe that a Deadpool cameo would take away from the overall tone of the game. However, with the role Deadpool has played in the Wolverine comics, he could appear to either stand in Logan’s way or help him overcome great odds.

Tying Wolverine to Spider-Man

Marvel's Spider-Man Peter/Miles

Deadpool is no stranger to Wolverine or Spider-Man, constantly trying to defeat the two superheroes to prove that he is better, stronger, and faster. So, having Deadpool make an appearance in both Marvel’s Wolverine and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would be a great way to connect both games if Insomniac chooses to go down that route. It could also lead to a future Deadpool game, something that fans have wanted ever since the success of 2013’s Deadpool video game.

Deadpool could definitely shake things up for both heroes, bringing in a lot of chaos and danger to the citizens of the cities that Wolverine and Spider-Man are trying to protect. With Hulk seemingly teased in Marvel’s Wolverine trailer, the pair could team up with Deadpool to deal with a rampaging monster. Further, due to his history of team-ups with both Wolverine and Spider-Man, Deadpool is an ideal candidate to bring both superheroes together to fight off against an even bigger threat.

Deadpool Could Bring The Rest of The X-Men

X-Men anime

Deadpool’s relationship with the X-Men runs much deeper than their appearance in the Deadpool movies. Since both Deadpool and Wolverine acquired a massive boost to their powers thanks to the Weapon X project, the Merc with a Mouth could simply be a hired gun sent to take out Logan. However, something that would excite fans even more would be the connection Deadpool has with the X-Men and their greatest enemies.

One X-Men comic storyline in particular had Deadpool fight against the X-Men as one of the Horsemen of Apocalypse. Others have shown him team up with the likes of Thanos, the Brotherhood of Mutants, the New Mutants, and the X-Force, all of which could tie Marvel’s Wolverine to the X-Men. With his storied history and deep connection with Wolverine, Deadpool could be used to bring in the rest of the X-Men, either to enlist Wolverine for the first time or to help out their old friend.

Wolverine and Deadpool Versus the Hulk

Wolverine vs Hulk

Marvel’s Wolverine trailer had a lot of Easter eggs hidden in the bar that Logan sat in; one that caught the attention of many fans was about the Incredible Hulk. A license plate behind the bar read HLK 181, which is a nod to Wolverine’s first-ever appearance in Marvel Comics in The Incredible Hulk issue #181, where the two fight. Having the Hulk appear in the game as one of the villains would be a great sight to behold.

Deadpool could fit in as an ally to Wolverine as the pair prepare for a fight against the Hulk. While both Wolverine and Deadpool have faced the Hulk individually, they have also done so as a team, bringing Marvel's three most powerful healing factors into a single battle. If the Hulk does play a significant role in Marvel’s Wolverine, then it is quite possible that Deadpool could appear to assist Logan in taking him down before he destroys an entire city.

Insomniac Games has not revealed whether Marvel’s Wolverine will eventually tie into the Spider-Man games; however, if they do, then Deadpool would become a vital character to include. Having a single character appear in both games would be a surefire way of letting fans know that both webslingers will likely cross paths with Logan in future games. On the other hand, Deadpool could also serve to bring in the X-Men or villains such as Apocalypse and William Stryker to Marvel's Wolverine, both of whom play a huge part in Logan’s publication history.

Marvel's Wolverine is in development for PS5.
