Like the original Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will surely feature a large lineup of suits for players to try out. With both Miles Morales and Peter Parker playable, Insomniac will have even more opportunities for costumes, meaning that the sequel will likely feature the largest lineup of alternate outfits yet. While there are plenty of suits fans will want to see in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, one of the character’s newest looks would be a great fit for the game.

The MCU’s What…If? animated series does a lot of interesting things, telling stories that feature a friendly Thanos and a serial killer that hunts down The Avengers. One of the best episodes adapts the Marvel Zombies comic series, and at the heart of the story is Zombie Hunter Spider-Man. One of the few surviving heroes, this version of Peter Parker ends up being paired with Doctor Strange’s Cloak of Levitation. Not only is it a cool look that is very different from other suits, as Peter is rarely seen with a cape, but it could provide a few unique gameplay features if it was added to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

What Insomniac Could Do With A Zombie Hunter Spider-Man Suit

In the two previous Marvel’s Spider-Man games, each of the alternate costumes have come with their own suit power. These powers range from small buffs to entirely new abilities, such as Web Blossom and the Iron Spider legs. If this mechanic carries over to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, there will surely be some awesome suit powers on display. While something like Moon Knight’s boomerang would be fun to use via an Arachknight skin, nothing could compare with the Cloak of Levitation.

If What If…?’s Zombie Hunter Spidey is added, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 fans could get two powers for the price of one. The first would entirely change Spider-Man’s traversal, providing a huge change from the usual webswinging. Like its name suggests, the Cloak of Levitation allows its user to float and, by extension, fly. If the suit were added to the game, Peter could be able to zoom across the city, dashing between buildings and not needing to worry about swinging at all. While this would require some careful balancing, as it should not overshadow swinging and wall-crawling, it could be a blast to mess around with.

Another great use of the Cloak of Levitation could be seen in combat. Much like Doctor Strange’s fights in the MCU, Peter could command his trusty cape to wrap around enemies. This could essentially stun them and take them out of the fight, with the cloak being a single-use, instant KO on small enemies. It could also wrap around larger foes, letting Peter beat them down and break through their defenses quickly. With a fresh movement and combat ability able to be worked a single suit, Insomniac Games should absolutely consider using it in the sequel.

Why Zombie Hunter Spider-Man Is Likely To Feature In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Fortunately, Zombie Hunter Spider-Man seems like a safe bet for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Thus far, Insomniac has shown the MCU suits a lot of love, with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man having several suits in the game already. The Homemade Suit, Stark Suit, Upgraded Suit, Stealth Suit, and Iron Spider Suit have all featured, meaning that every single costume worn by the latest live action Spidey has made it to the game. With all these costumes being incredibly popular, it makes sense that Insomniac would continue to feature MCU outfits in its upcoming sequel.

One last touch that would make the Zombie Hunter Spider-Man suit extra memorable is a special art style. Much like Miles’ Into the Spider-Verse suit, Insomniac could give Zombie Hunter Spider-Man a cel-shaded design that makes it look like Peter just stepped out of a What If…? episode. While it would be great to see the skin featured either way, the way that the Into the Spider-Verse suit mimicked the movie’s art style helped set it apart. As such, seeing Insomniac go the extra mile with the What If…? suit could ensure that it is one of the very best costumes in the game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release in 2023 for PS5.
