Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 confirms a lot of interesting things in its brief reveal trailer. Miles and Peter can be seen fighting together, seemingly confirming team-up moves for the two playable wall-crawlers. Kraven’s narration suggests a large role for The Hunter, while the appearance of Iron Spider legs for Peter implies a new addition to his moveset. Most exciting of all was the appearance of Venom, as fans now know for sure that he will be a major focus of the sequel’s story.

While fans are obviously excited to face off with Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, his appearance also means that the Symbiote suit will likely be coming to the game. With no Symbiote suit offered in the original, likely because Insomniac had been planning to save the outfits for the sequel, players will likely get to see a black version of Peter’s Advanced Suit in the new game. However, they could end up getting a bit more. If one Symbiote suit is coming, the door is open for several others to be added to the game’s cosmetic lineup.

Other Symbiote Suits That Could Feature In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Even when it comes to the main Symbiote suit in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, there is potential for a few different variants. One could be a simple black recolor of the Advanced suit, while a gooier, more alien-like version that resembles Venom is possible. A neat touch could see the suit getting more Venom-like the longer it is worn, though there is potential for two entirely different costumes that each take on a different style - and Insomniac Games might not stop there.

A comic-accurate version of the Symbiote suit is a must, with the classic look being able to be used in-game. The large and wide spider is iconic, and it is hard to imagine an Advanced suit variant having that. The original concept with the red spider would also be a lot of fun to use. Another design that many fans want to see is the Symbiote Raimi suit. While it is just an all-black variant of Tobey Maguire’s normal costume, the massive fan base for those movies is surely hoping they will get to see it as an option. Given how long fans have had to wait for the costume, though, Insomniac should go one step further.

Why Every Suit Could Be A Symbiote Suit In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

While many are already hoping that Insomniac will go above and beyond by adding special Symbiote suit features, another great touch would see the developer making a black variant for every costume in the game. With each essentially being a reskin, they would not take away from the game’s suit count. Further, the recolors would really drive home just how important the Symbiote is to the narrative of the next Marvel’s Spider-Man game.

Fans have already shown that the black color scheme would look incredible on just about any costume. A recent fan edit of the Scarlet Spider suit shows this, as the costume looks terrific with black and grey instead of red and blue. It is easy to imagine Spider-Man 2099’s costume looking just as good, with Insomniac having the chance to create some memorable Symbiote suit designs that have never been seen in the comics.

Adding a black variant for every one of Peter’s alternate costumes would mean that any Symbiote suit powers that are added are usable with any costume. It would be strange to see Peter using tendrils with something like the Spider Armor suit, but if it gets a black paint job, it would instantly be less jarring. Though this would mean more work for Insomniac, fans would surely be thrilled to have over a dozen different Symbiote suits to wear as they swing through New York.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release in 2023 for PS5.
