When Insomniac’s unique take on Peter’s costume was first revealed, many Marvel’s Spider-Man fans were unsure of whether to embrace the new suit. However, while the Marvel’s Spider-Man community was initially unsure of the outfit, many have come to love it over the years – including a very talented artist.
Marvel’s Spider-Man’s Advanced Suit made several significant adjustments to Peter’s look, from white accents on the gloves and shoes to the instantly recognizable white spider. With most Spidey suits boasting black spiders, especially with the red and blue combo, the change was certainly jarring. The large size of the symbol was also a major change, with it looking more like the one seen on the Symbiote suit than anything else. However, as shown by Redditors like YerikJans, the Advanced Suit has become very popular over the years.
The Marvel’s Spider-Man fan art shows Peter proudly rocking the costume, with the hero looking great as he looks over the city. Alongside the white symbol, YerikJans has the webslinger squinting, showing that he can emote with his eyes just like he does inside Insomniac’s game. The webbing on the suit is thin, and the colors are spot on, with the art being something like one would expect to see in an official tie-in comic. With a yellow sky in the background as well as some skyscrapers, the fan’s art, which they supposedly drew up quickly, is outstanding.
However, while the default version of Peter perching on a rooftop looked good on its own, the fan shared a second version of their artwork with the Marvel’s Spider-Man community. In the alternate image, seen above, the sky is covered with black tendrils - presumably because of the Symbiote. With Venom set to feature in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, paying homage to the villain in this way was a clever touch on the part of the artist.
As of now, it remains to be seen how Venom will be used in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. While the game’s reveal trailer certainly made him look like a formidable foe, some feel like that may have been a red herring. With the villain often filling the role of an anti-hero, fans are theorizing that the same thing could end up happening in Insomniac’s universe - especially with Harry Osborn likely to be the one that the Symbiote is attaching itself to. Regardless, showing the Symbiote above Peter’s head is a fun way to tease the threat without actually including him in the art.
While there have been plenty of standout Spider-Man suits over the years, it is clear that YerikJans and many others are fond of Insomniac’s original creation. Though it boasts a darker red and wider mask in the sequel, many fans should be happy to don the suit once again.
