Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales doubled down on the Symbiote teasers, as both games were capped off with post credits scenes that saw Norman Osborn using the alien to keep his son Harry alive. While Eddie Brock and Flash Thompson are the usual holders of the Venom parasite, it seems like Harry will become the creature in the next game. Regardless of the wearer, though, many are excited to see Venom in action during the next game.

However, while Venom is likely to appear, Marvel’s Spider-Man fans should be expecting a bit more than a clash with Peter’s monstrous nemesis. For starters, there are several other Symbiotes in the comics, allowing for multiple villains to spawn from Venom’s debut. More intriguingly, though, the use of the Symbiote could lead to an incredible final act that sees the two Spider-Man fighting against each other as opposed to side by side.

Carnage And Other Symbiotes In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

While Venom is undoubtedly the most iconic Symbiote in Marvel Comics, there have been several others over the years. Sleeper can use corrosive attacks and pheromones in battle, while Scream is able to use her hair-like tendrils as an attack. Scorn’s ability to bond with technology makes her an interesting foe, while Knull’s role as the Symbiote god makes him a great choice for an endgame boss. However, while all these Symbiotes would be fun to fight in the next Marvel’s Spider-Man game, it is impossible to top Carnage.

While Carnage and Venom are set to face off on-the big screen during Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the rivalry between the two has only become more prominent over the years. Bonded to a serial killer named Cletus Kasady, the pairing sees Kasady being able to take many victims with ease. This makes him a particularly dangerous foe, as does his ability to camouflage and become undetectable to Peter’s Spider-Sense. Though a remorseless killer may not work as the main villain in a game, having him appear in a side questline or as a smaller piece of the main story could be interesting. Peter and Miles could need to track a series of murders, leading to a neat boss fight with Carnage at the end. With the red symbiote able to infect humans to fight alongside him, too, Miles and Peter could be forced to hold back as they take him on.

Symbiote Peter Vs. Miles Morales In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

With Carnage able to introduce other Symbiotes like Toxin and Red Goblin, his addition would certainly be exciting. However, it would not top the possibility of seeing Symbiote Peter Parker. If Insomniac’s version of Peter ends up with the black suit like the original once did, he could find himself becoming more twisted with time. Seeing Peter lose control could prove devastating, especially since fans have grown so attached to Yuri Lowenthal’s version of the webslinger. However, players know exactly who they could control to take Peter down.

With Miles Morales now a full-fledged hero, he could easily step up to the plate to bring down his mentor. Seeing Peter slowly losing his mind would be interesting, and when he eventually goes too far, a final battle with Miles could ensue. Perhaps the only way to match the emotion of the Doctor Octopus battle, having Miles and Peter fight one another would prove to be incredibly intense. It could also provide an easy way for Insomniac to give fans a fair amount of time with each of Marvel’s Spider-Man’s playable characters. The first half of the game could see players taking on Venom as Peter, switching to Miles in the second half once Peter gets infected or does something drastic.

On top of setting up an interesting story where Peter and Miles fight one another, the Symbiote Spider-Man suit is too good of an opportunity to pass up. Right now, Peter is less interesting to play as than Miles, as the more seasoned wall-crawler lacks the Venom powers that make the younger hero so fun to play. However, the black suit could change that, as the Symbiote could imbue Peter with new abilities like tendrils and extended combos. Making both characters equally fun to use will be important for the sequel, and Peter stealing Harry’s Symbiote could go a long way to making his moveset deeper. While it would certainly put Peter in a tough spot after the game's main narrative, forcing Miles to remove the Symbiote from his ally would make for an iconic moment.
