Insomniac promises that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s release date will be revealed soon. Fans have been eager for more information about Insomniac’s upcoming sequel since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was first shown off back in 2021, but there has been very little to go on aside from a few rumors, plot leaks, and Easter Egg clues in related media like the free Marvel’s Spider-Man tie-in comic from earlier this month and the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie. This drought finally ended during the recent PlayStation Showcase livestream, which ended with a brand-new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 story and gameplay trailer. During this exciting segment, it was finally confirmed that Peter Parker will indeed don his iconic black Symbiote costume, complete with a more aggressive, tendril-based fighting style and a darker demeanor to match. Fans also got to see more of Miles Morales in action during a pulse-pounding chase with the Lizard, and the previously-confirmed Kraven the Hunter finally appeared in the flesh as he and his army of followers traveled to New York City in search of a deadly challenge.RELATED: Rumor: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Borrows Elements from an Unexpected GenreThe new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer revealed a lot about the upcoming adventure, but one thing that remained in the shadows was the game’s exact release date. Not too long after the PlayStation Showcase aired, Insomniac took to Twitter to thank players for their positive responses to the new Spider-Man 2 footage. The developer also assured fans that more information will be revealed soon, including Spider-Man 2’s release date, pre-order bonuses, and accessibility features.

So far, Spider-Man 2 has only been slated to launch sometime in Fall 2023, which was reinforced at the end of yesterday’s trailer. A few months ago, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 voice actor Tony Todd (who will play Venom) claimed that the game would be released in September following an extensive summer marketing campaign, but he would later downplay this sudden leak.

It isn’t clear when Insomniac plans to unveil new information about Spider-Man 2, but a prime opportunity could come during the Summer Game Fest next month as parent company PlayStation is confirmed for the event. Whenever it may happen, Insomniac is assuring eager fans that they might not have to wait too much longer to find out when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will finally swing onto the PlayStation 5, as well as any accessibility features that will let everyone be greater when that day does come.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launches this fall, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
