As Insomniac Games continues to keep quiet about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in the lead-up to its late 2023 launch, fans have been pouncing on any leak or rumor that makes its way to the internet. Sure enough, 4chan users recently discovered that an outline of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s story had apparently been posted onto the web. However, with some strange narrative choices mentioned, it is highly likely that this leak is fake.
Still, even the most outrageous leaks can turn out to be true, and the person that posted the info was very brief in their descriptions - ensuring that the story they shared could work much better when gamers are actually experiencing it themselves and the moments have time to breathe. If this turns out to be the case, and the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 plot leak is true, then fans can at least take solace in one thing: the sequel would have an awesome lineup of villains.

Though the behavior of both characters in the plot leak is all over the place, if it is true then players could end up seeing both Osborns as Green Goblin - with Harry and Norman donning two different versions of the suit. Though this could be tough to pull off from a narrative perspective, it would be exciting for gameplay, as presumably players would get to battle two different Goblins. It could also allow players to see two different takes on the villain’s attire, with one possibly being tech-based and the other appearing more traditional and Goblin-like.
Aside from the villains that are integral to the main plot, like Kraven and Venom, the leaker mentions several side villains that will supposedly appear. While the rumored return of Screwball will undoubtedly illicit groans from those who dislike her shrill voice and loud personality, fans looking for some comedic fights could be happy to read that Paste Pot Pete and Big Wheel will apparently be featured as side villains. While the former will probably be a pushover and used for comedic effect, the latter could be a fun boss battle.
However, players can rest assured that alongside these goofy villains, they will get to do battle with two iconic threats if the leaked plot is legitimate. One side villain will be Sandman, an interesting character who could make for an unforgettable boss fight where Peter and Miles have to work side by side. The other villain is a character fans have been waiting a long time to see in action, as Mysterio might just be tied to side missions in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. He could have an exciting boss fight for fans to enjoy too, helping to fix a complaint from the first game about a lack of optional boss battles.
Doctor Octopus is even set to make a brief appearance based on this leak, though he will apparently only have a voice cameo. Still, this would be very exciting, as it could set up Doc Ock’s return and maybe even a Superior Spider-Man adaptation for a future game. On the flip side, with his health rapidly deteriorating, the recording could be a goodbye and an apology to Peter. Either way, his presence would ensure an even more expansive cast.
While this leak being true would mean there are still a few villains left untouched by Insomniac Games after the sequel (Lizard immediately comes to mind), fans would still have a huge villain lineup to battle in the upcoming game. Obviously, given its questionable source and certain plot points not making much sense, this leak is almost certainly inaccurate. Still, in the unlikely scenario where it does turn out to be true, at least there would be a nice variety of bosses.
