Fans are excited for what’s to come in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but if anything is certain, It’s that the game is bound to bring in a range of new abilities. From gadgets to swinging potential, to even the powers unlocked through the Venom Symbiote, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has shown players a lot of greatness.

12 Venom Tendrils

The use of the Symbiote is bound to be a great feat of joy and power for many players. Spider-Man uses the Venom Symbiote to get a new suit and to create a large tendril from his arm, which forms a great lunge attack, pushing enemies back into a truck. If players look closely, the two enemies caught in this attack are immediately incapacitated.

This Venom tendril punch seems to devastate enemies, as both of Kraven’s mercenaries are out for the count, and one of them is stuck to the truck in Venom goo, much like Spider-Man’s web shooters that allow for enemies to be incapacitated on walls and objects.

11 Symbiote Spike Ball

Another move featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay reveal trailer shows Spider-Man launching into the air summoning a mass cluster of Symbiote goo around him to form a black sludge that launches towards enemies like a missile. It;'s a gameplay change that enhances combat. This devastating move encapsulates enemies, trapping them in the Symbiote sludge.

The move doesn’t seem to be too powerful, as some enemies manage to get back to their feet once the move has been used. However, that doesn’t mean it's void of uses, as the trailer shows Spider-Man uses the move to juggle his enemies into the air to continue taking punches.

10 Venom Parry

Something void from the first Marvel’s Spider-Man game was that of a parry option. Spider-Man could dodge and evade attacks, but it seems that enemies now have a yellow circle above their heads to indicate a move that can be parried for extra damage.

This is shown when Spider-Man is fighting a woman with blades, to which Spider-Man uses his Spider-Sense to quickly form a Symbiote shield at his chest, which he uses to parry and counterattack his assailant, knocking her to the ground instantly.

9 Symbiote Grand Slam

As four enemies hold their machine guns aimed directly at Spider-Man, the Smybiote-infested wall-crawler wastes no time in disposing of them. Spider-Man stretches out his arms, with black tendrils emerging from his limbs to reach and grab the assailants, gripping them to immobilize them and their weapons.

This move is something out of a horror film, as Spider-Man uses the tendrils to suspend his victims in the air, before slamming them down into the ground, making them eat concrete and say goodnight, incapacitating them from further violence.

8 Switch To Miles

Thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5 and the SSD that it holds, seamless switching between Spider-Men seems possible. The gameplay demo shows the ability to switch from Peter Parker to Miles Morales and head straight into the action as New York’s newest Spider-Man.

There’s no doubt that this ability will feature prominently in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and players will be able to choose the freedom of which Spider-Man they want to play for the majority of side content and free roam. Perhaps the two Spider-Men can even cross paths during free-roam swinging sessions.

7 Super Slingshot

There were minor complaints to be had about Marvel’s Spider-Man, and one of them seemed to be the accessibility and speed of the swinging. It seems that Insomniac Games have heard their fans, as Miles Morales’ Spider-Man gameplay opens with the character using a Super Slingshot ability.

This new move allows Spider-Man to web either side of a building’s poles to create a slingshot and launch himself into the air with an intense bolster to speed, skipping past multiple buildings before the need to even shoot off another web.

6 Web Wings

In a stunning reveal, Miles reveals a new tool in his slick suit with the web wings. These web wings allow for Spider-Man to glide across the skies of New York City. There are even wind circles that Miles can glide through, providing him with an additional boost to both his air height and his speed as he maneuvers between buildings.

The web wings are a great addition to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and they will be a great ally to both of the Spider-Man characters as they swing and glide their way through New York City, allowing them to cover the air and get to places a lot faster with such intense speeds.

5 Web Line

Spider-Man has always had a keen invention in gadgets, especially those of the webbed variety. The Web Line is the newest tool at the disposal of Spider-Man, and Miles uses it to create a walkable line out of the eyesight of Kraven’s mercenaries.

The Web Line will be a great tool, and it begs the question of what other gadgets will feature in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The Web Line can have many uses, from reaching new locations in stealth, and to perhaps more freedom when it comes to stealth takedowns.

4 Double Takedown

spider-man double stealth takedown

Stealth may be more of a Batman thing, but that doesn’t mean Spider-Man is learning from his stealth mistakes. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will allow players to commit a dual takedown, which has players eliminate two enemies at once rather than just the one with the other enemy distracted and blissfully unaware.

The double takedown ability will help players commit to stealth easier, especially when paired with suit mods. There is a glowing green ring indicating the safety of which enemies can be taken out together, and if Spider-Man will be spotted for such a sneaky act.

3 Upgraded Trip Mine

One of the best gadgets in Marvel’s Spider-Man was the Trip Mine, which saw a small device attach to a wall. Enemies would be struck with the Trip Mine if they were detected by it, causing them to slam into the wall and be incapacitated for the remainder of the fight.

With the upgraded Trip Mine in play, it seems that Spider-Man can throw it just about anywhere, and if there are enemies in its field of detection, then they will all be grabbed and slammed into each other to be knocked out.

2 Electric Teleport

Miles Morales and Peter Parker were bitten by different spiders, so it makes sense for Miles’ powers to be somewhat different. This leads to some interesting combat abilities, as Miles Morales’ Spider-Man makes himself known to Kraven’s Hunters by using an electrified teleport to get to them fast, where he begins attacking them.

This teleport move looks like it can come in handy in many combat situations. Perhaps the player is in trouble, and wants to get back to safety, or, they might want to alternate their target and teleport to them faster than just webbing towards them. It’s safe to say that Miles has quite the move set.

1 Spidey's Kamehameha

Miles Morales channels his inner Goku as he prepares to parry and counterattack a bladed assailant. With his new electric powers, Spider-Man can form an electric current through his arms and unleash them through his palms, shooting out a violent bolt of lightning that even chains nearby enemies.

With Miles sending out a powerful Venom Blast, it just goes to show how integral Miles will be when it comes to battling the Symbiote, as his powers will be a great asset when it comes to countering the effects and urges of the Venom Symbiote.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for a Fall 2023 release exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
