While the next Marvel’s Spider-Man game could still be far off, it is still fun to ponder what the sequel could include. With the first two games featuring some strong adventures for the webslingers, players are excited to see what Insomniac does with them next. While certain features can be expected, like new suit abilities and an option to switch between Miles and Peter, there are tons of other things that a sequel could do to shake things up.

Outside of some exciting boss fights with the likes of Venom and Lizard in the next Marvel’s Spider-Man, little else has been teased for the sequel. However, it would be great to see it pull a special game mode from Spider-Man 2. Further, it could take some inspiration from the MCU to add two new features, with both expanding Spider-Man’s suits in a memorable way. While this is purely speculation, the following features would be a lot of fun to see in a new Spidey game.

A Survival Mode In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

One feature Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 can pull from the original Spider-Man 2 is a survival mode. In that game, players could battle waves of enemies in a warehouse, testing their skills with Spider-Man 2’s combat. A special boss battle with Calypso was also hidden away in the Survival mode, giving players access to a special encounter that they never would have seen otherwise. If Insomniac wants to make the next Marvel’s Spider-Man game stand out, incorporating a Survival mode could go a long way to doing so.

In the other two Marvel’s Spider-Man games, there is little to do with a maxed-out Peter Parker or Miles Morales. While players can replay bases and complete random crimes, nothing really puts them to the test, as their version of the wall-crawler is superior to whatever the game can throw at them. However, a survival mode could give players an endgame challenge for their Spider-Men, letting them use their gadgets and powers to their fullest. Insomniac could also go a step further, adding a leaderboard system so friends can compete against one another. If hidden bosses are included, too, the mode could be as memorable as the warehouse from Spider-Man 2. With the 2004 release being considered one of the best Spider-Man games ever made, taking inspiration from it would hardly be a bad thing.

Web Wings And Suit Customization In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

One feature that Marvel’s Spider-Man fans are calling for featured prominently in both the comics and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Many are hoping to see Spider-Man’s web wings in the sequel, and with how much the mechanic could add, it is hard to argue against this idea. Gliding through New York could be a ton of fan, adding another layer to the already-great traversal system seen in Marvel’s Spider-Man. If gamers can glide faster with more momentum from their swings, they could be getting around the city faster than ever before.

Another feature inspired by the MCU comes from Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Integrated Suit. The costume is rumored to be made from some of Peter’s other MCU costumes, explaining the gold spider symbol on his chest. Regardless of whether this leak proves accurate, Insomniac could make great use of such a concept in its next Spider-Man game. While full suit creation seems a bit far-fetched, something Insomniac could do is let players mix and match pieces of the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 costumes. If the game includes a good variety of outfits like the past entries have, players could come with fashionable outfits long after release.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is already poised to dovetail perfectly with Spider-Man: No Way Home, so embracing the movie's idea of suit combinations would make sense. A natural fit for a video game, especially one with a strong photo mode, it is easy to imagine some of the possible pairings. Putting pieces of Miles’ 2099 suit with Miguel O’ Hara’s 2099 costume is one of the potential combos, while another would see the Scarlet Spider jacket thrown on something like the Spider-Punk outfit. Mixing and matching the various Spider Armors could prove just as fun, especially if players can apply different colors to the masks and costume pieces. While web wings would let Peter and Miles get through New York faster, suit customization would allow them to swing around in style.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is rumored to be in development.
