It's finally happened. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has received its first gameplay trailer. After waiting almost two years since its initial announcement, fans have finally been treated to a fairly lengthy gameplay showcase for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, showcasing a lot of the same gameplay fans know and love, while also confirming some heavily rumored features.

Along with the confirmation that players will get to explore Queens, that Kraven the Hunter will play a primary antagonistic role, and players will be able to swap between Miles Morales and Peter Parker throughout the game, Marvel's Spider-Man 2's first gameplay trailer also finally confirmed that Peter Parker will be donning the iconic black Symbiote suit. Not only does this Symbiote suit give Peter's Advanced suit a sleek black makeover, but it also seemingly gives him a handful of new, pretty brutal abilities.

Every Symbiote Ability Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Has Revealed So Far

After a brief intro sequence that sets up Kraven the Hunter and his general motivations, Marvel's Spider-Man 2's gameplay reveal trailer takes fans to a quiet Queens suburb. As Kraven's henchmen surround a building that's supposedly housing the Lizard, Peter Park leaps out of the basement, ambushing the soldiers, and wearing the Symbiote suit, its tendrils quickly wrapping themselves around him.

From here, Marvel's Spider-Man 2's trailer transitions into actual gameplay, and Peter kicks things off by using one of his brand new Symbiote abilities. Seemingly activated by holding down L1 and pressing one of the face buttons, Spidey charges his arm back for a second or two, and pushes it forward, launching a collection of tendrils forward into two henchmen, knocking one of them to the ground and sticking the other to a vehicle. After a quick web pull, Spidey then launches into another new Symbiote ability, this one propelling him into the air, dashing towards a group of soldiers, and launching them upward, opening them up to further combos.

It seems as though Symbiote Suit Spidey also has some unique finishers when using the new suit. After brutally slamming an opponent into the pavement below, Spider-Man uses his tendril arm again to pummel his enemy in the face, and throw them back into the ground. A second finisher can be seen just a few seconds later, with Spidey again using his huge tendril arm to grab a henchman and thrust them into the concrete mercilessly.

Just a moment later, Spidey uses his Symbiote tendrils to create a shield in front of himself, blocking an oncoming attack, and countering with a brutal kick to the gut. With reinforcements arriving, Spider-Man gets the opportunity to pull out yet another new trick, with this ability allowing him to grab four enemies at once with his tendrils, lift them into the air, and slam them back down again, knocking out each one instantly.

Currently, those Symbiote abilities are the only ones confirmed for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 so far, though there is one icon on the HUD that wasn't used during the trailer, presumably confirming the existence of at least one other main Symbiote ability. For the most part, it seems as though Marvel's Spider-Man 2's Symbiote suit is following in the footsteps of its past inspirations. Its Symbiote abilities look very similar to those depicted in past Spider-Man games, TV shows, and movies.

It also seems like Peter Parker is set to go on a pretty familiar journey with the Symbiote suit as well, with it immediately altering his behavior for the worse. It'll be interesting to see just how long players get to wield the Symbiote suit in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and whether it's only Peter that will be affected by it.
