Marvel’s Midnight Suns is shaping up to be an extremely interesting game, as Firaxis will be bringing its signature style to the Marvel universe. While it remains to be seen if the tactical RPG approach will benefit or hinder the game, one areas where it is less likely to disappoint players is in its hero lineup. From darker characters like Ghost Rider and Blade to icons like Wolverine and Iron Man, the roster seems stacked so far.

However, not every member from the comic books starring the Midnight Suns is present in the game's lineup. While some would surely like to see Morbius and Werewolf By Night inside the game, perhaps the character with the most potential is Moon Knight. While he joins the faction in 2018’s Damnation storyline and has not been as integral to the group as others, the fact that he has an established relationship with the Midnight Suns should be enough to include him. Further, the recent release of Moon Knight's MCU series makes an appearance even more logical, so it would be a bit of a bummer if he was not included in some way.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns Can Capture The Moon Knight Hype

Moon Knight review

Oscar Isaac’s portrayal of Moon Knight and his various personalities has earned him plenty of praise, so much so that many are hoping he’ll get some Emmy nominations when the awards season comes around. With the show performing well on Disney+ and introducing many to the character of Mark Spector, giving those new fans more content with him simply makes sense.

While Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ currently revealed roster does not feature the fist of Khonshu, that does not mean that he cannot be in the game. Featuring Moon Knight as a secret, unlockable character is a possibility. Likewise, a proper DLC built around Moon Knight has serious potential. Not only could Firaxis add Moon Knight to the roster this way, but he could get an entire story built around his corner of the Marvel universe.

Instead of battling a recurring antagonist like Bushman, Moon Knight and the rest of the Midnight Suns could take on some Egyptian gods that are giving Khonshu trouble. This fits with the otherworldly threats that will be fought during the main story, and it suits the organization's purpose quite well. Egypt could provide some unique areas to fight through, with pyramids, tombs, and city streets all on the table.

Moon Knight’s fighting style could be a lot of fun in a tactical RPG as well. He could be an extremely powerful character with a risk/reward mechanic where he randomly switches between personalities. While in his Moon Knight form, he could use Crescent Darts, while batons could be wielded in the Mr. Knight form. Both forms could provide different attacks and health pools, with one being a tanky, close range fighter and the latter being a glass cannon that attacks from far away. While having both styles in one character could be great, it could also serve as a challenge since players would not have control over when the change happens.

Adding Moon Knight to Marvel’s Midnight Suns simply makes sense. Not only is there a comic book history to pull from if he is added to the group, but Firaxis could capitalize on all the hype around the Disney+ series and Moon Knight’s potential MCU future. With an interesting story expansion possible and the character able to provide a unique gameplay style on top of that, there are many upsides to Moon Knight appearing on the game.

Marvel's Midnights Suns is scheduled to release in the second half of 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
