Marvel's Midnight Suns has released a new spotlight trailer, as it has with previous heroes like Doctor Strange, Wolverine, and so on, focused on the New Mutants hero of Magik. These trailers mostly focus on the abilities and animations associated with the highlighted hero. They should not be confused with the bigger trailers, like the Marvel's Midnight Suns release date trailer revealed at D23.

Earlier this year, Marvel's Midnight Suns was delayed out of its October release date, and many fans didn't think they'd see it this year. Although Marvel's Midnight Suns is not coming to PS4, Switch, and Xbox One at launch, it will release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X on December 2. Players will have plenty of heroes to choose from, and Magik is one of those.

Befitting her comic book role, Magik is seen in the trailer (below) using her portals to move allies, to toss enemies, and to otherwise control the battlefield. Indeed, during a preview earlier this year, Game Rant was able to play Marvel's Midnight Suns for about five hours, and her ability to control the battlefield can definitely come in clutch. However, finding synergies between each character and equipping each character with the best cards means that no hero in the game is truly a one-trick pony. Blade may be a great, solo-oriented melee combatant and Magik may be able to manipulate the battlefield with her portals, but there's more to each.

For example, this Marvel's Midnight Suns trailer highlights Magik's Soulsword and shows off her Darkchylde ability that sees her turn red and seemingly become more powerful, highlighting a more DPS role. Interestingly, Darkchylde is a reference to one of her alias and "forms" seen in the comics. Magik's Darkchylde is incredibly powerful in Limbo, though somewhat restricted on Earth, but was capable of defeating Dormammu and absorbing Limbo into herself. Through her portals, it should be noted players will travel through limbo to various combat encounters in Marvel's Midnight Suns, but if her Darkchylde form ties to story events, to limbo, or is just a combat ability remains to be seen.

Marvel's Midnight Suns' new release date was but one of various video game-related announcements at Disney's D23 Expo. Fans also got to see Skydance's new Captain America and Black Panther game, mobile games like Marvel Snap and Marvel: World of Heroes, and more.

Marvel's Midnight Suns releases December 2 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions are also in development.
