A year after its release, Marvel's Avengers has made its way onto Xbox Game Pass, giving many players an opportunity to try it who hadn't done so prior. Unfortunately though, many users are reporting difficulty downloading Marvel's Avengers to their systems.

It has been a bit of an uphill battle for Marvel's Avengers since its launch. Despite an entertaining campaign and fun to use heroes, the game's repetitive mission design, and lackluster multiplayer, meant for a game that is initially delightful, but doesn't offer many reasons for players to keep coming back. Crystal Dynamics hasn't clawed its way back though, adding many new expansions and characters over the past year, with more content on the way, meaning the game is still alive and well. It came as a surprise when Microsoft recently announced that Marvel's Avengers was coming to Xbox Game Pass, which for many, was reason enough to give it a shot.

Various players on Reddit are reporting difficulty downloading Marvel's Avengers on Xbox Game Pass, and no one is quite sure why it is happening. The first reported instance comes from user General_Media_3544, who explains that after 10-15GB are downloaded, the installation stops and restarts; they are playing on the Xbox One and have plenty of space to install the game. The problem isn't seemingly exclusive to the Xbox One though, as users in the comment section have reported similar issues on Xbox Series X/S. As of right now, niether Marvel's Avengers nor Xbox have spoken about the issue.

The most frustrating part of this situation is there are other users who had zero problem downloading the game. People have been pretty supportive, suggesting that afflicted users clear additional space from their storage, hard reboot their console, and even download the game directly from the Microsoft Store. Sadly though, none of these solutions seem to fix the issue, as downloads still reach a certain point before stopping and starting over. Xbox informs players when game downloads are being throttled by other activities, but it doesn't give any diagnostic about these downloads that are randomly failing.

Hopefully in the near future, either Microsoft or Crystal Dynamics address this issue with Marvel's Avengers. With users having such extreme difficulty downloading the game, and those who had no problem at all, though, it really leans on those behind the scenes to figure why this could be happening. Xbox Game Pass was supposed to help Marvel's Avengers, and in fairness to it, those who were able to download it are seemingly enjoying themselves, but for those struggling, the desire to play the game may have come and gone by the time it is fixed.

Marvel's Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
