Marvel’s Avengers supposedly has plenty of DLC characters on the way, and the pairing of Vision and Scarlet Witch is one of the most exciting. While these DLC heroes have potential due to their unique powers, their character arcs and storylines have proven to be just as intriguing to Marvel fans. As shown with the success of the MCU show WandaVision, fans love the couple for who they are as characters, and this popularity would likely make a future expansion a guaranteed success.

Marvel’s Avengers should also pull from one of the most startling reveals in the shows eighth episode, giving players access to White Vision inside the game. While this would certainly be Crystal Dynamics capitalizing on the show’s hype, something they have tried to avoid doing with their content thus far, there is a lot that can be done with White Vision inside the game. From a simple cosmetic to a full-on focus of a future storyline, here are some ways that White Vision can work inside Marvel’s Avengers.

A Special Skin

With Vision being one of Marvel’s Avengers’ leaked DLC heroes, special skins will need to be added for Vision just like with any other character. As such, a simple but effective way to include a nod to the White Vision story arc would be to make him an unlockable skin. Likely the final unlock of Vision’s hero card, including a White Vision skin at the end of the challenge lineup would be a terrific way to encourage players to buy the card. That said, the skin would probably do just as well if it was thrown in the marketplace.

With the White Vision character having the same powers as his colorful counterpart, playing as him would provide the same experience as controlling the classic Vision would. As such, including the bright white variant as an alternate costume would be a sufficient way to use the concept. While more can certainly be done with White Vision, a huge aspect of the character’s rise in popularity is how cool he looks in the show. Capturing that in-game would be a must, as Vision players would certainly want to play as this creepy version of the hero.

Some Story Significance

Much like WandaVision is making the character integral to the show’s finale, Marvel’s Avengers can do the same via a White Vision DLC. Like the Hawkeye DLC, a two-part story could be told with two different characters used. Players could control Vision in the first portion, with his story ending in a way that sees him replaced with White Vision. In the comics and seemingly the show as well, Vision is disassembled and reassembled, losing his personality in the process. With all his memories and relationships stripped away, this version of Vision is a shell of his former self.

The show seems set to have some external forces manipulate this rebuilt and reborn Vision, and a DLC could follow a similar pattern. AIM and Monica Rappaccini could control White Vision, or more intriguingly, another figure like Ultron could be revealed as the one pulling the strings. Regardless of who is in control of White Vision, though, the second half of the story could see Scarlet Witch being the playable character. Forced to fight an emotionless version of her husband on the way to stopping the true villain, players could endure an emotional and intense battle as they progress through the story.

This Wanda and Vision-focused story could have two possible endings. A happier version could see Vision’s color and personality restored, with Wanda finding a way to fix her husband. A darker ending could see White Vision sticking around, becoming a hero but still lacking both his color and an emotional attachment to Wanda. Both scenarios would lead to interesting conversations between the characters in Warzone missions going forward, and both endings could cap off an incredibly unique DLC. While it is unclear if WandaVision will have a happy ending where the two Visions merge, or a sad one where one or neither survive, Crystal Dynamics can keep this in mind for a possible expansion — doing the opposite with its ending to the White Vision arc.

A Memorable Boss Encounter

While White Vision could become the focus of a DLC story and would be a must-have skin inside Marvel’s Avengers, one final use for the character would see him becoming a boss battle inside the game. While he would continue a trend of copycat bosses in Marvel’s Avengers, there is currently nothing like what a Vision boss battle would bring to the table. While he would surely make for a great boss inside the DLC due to Wanda's bond with her husband being on the line, he could be just as fun to fight outside of it via the game’s Villain Sectors.

The Vision’s ability to harden could be a great way to have him counter player damage, allowing him to fight off Ultimate abilities with ease. Likewise, he can harden as players hit him with melee attacks, trapping their arms or legs inside of him and leaving them stuck. Stunned and open to a more damaging attack, other players could be forced to attack Vision to free their trapped teammates. His laser would obviously be his most devastating attack, and White Vision’s power to fly would see players needing to mix in some ranged attacks throughout the fight.

Something that could make a boss battle with White Vision extra special would be having the boss randomly appear as players progress toward the arena. Using his ability to phase, White Vision could attack players at random, giving them trouble as they push through AIM bots or other enemy types. Players could also be rewarded by preparing for these random encounters, as damage dealt to White Vision could carry over to his proper boss fight — giving players a slightly smaller health bar to whittle down. While these random, pre-boss appearances should not happen constantly, having a chance for Vision to appear could make the Villain Sector less monotonous and more replayable.

While the real Vision will need to be added before White Vision can be a thing, the alternate take on the character should appear if such a DLC arrives. With so much potential for a memorable story, awesome skin, and standout boss fight, a White Vision DLC in Marvel’s Avengers could be terrific.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions coming March 18.
