Since the two Hawkeye characters launched in Marvel's Avengers, the playerbase has been in for a long wait before the next playable hero will arrive. The game has started receiving limited time events and enemies, which does help keep the grind feeling a bit more fresh, but the next major content addition won't arrive until the War for Wakanda DLC is ready.

The Black Panther-themed War for Wakanda Marvel's Avengers DLC was revealed months ago and has been tentatively scheduled in the "Summer and Beyond" category on the Avenger's Road Map. As promised, the Square Enix E3 2021 press conference is providing the first closer look at the game's first major content addition.

As expected, War for Wakanda looks like it is going to be jam-packed with new content. The DLC is promising a new hero, new outfits, power level cap increase, new villains, new story, new Wakanda jungle biome, new outpost, and even more MCU-inspired outfits. All of that should help offer a nice change of pace from the usual weekly content rotation grind.

The War for Wakanda cinematic trailer offers an impressive look at the hero's design and Wakanda itself, but unfortunately doesn't touch on any real gameplay details. Some new enemies were shown, including Klaw and some very threatening looking robot spiders, but there weren't many other details to go along with the splashy cinematic trailer at this point. No specific release date was mentioned.

The original teaser for War for Wakanda already revealed that Klaw would be the main enemy and that is further explored this time around. It looks like Klaw is invading Wakanda in search of Vibranium and Black Panther and the Avengers must unite to fight off Klaw and the enemy's allies.

Marvel's Avengers recently started rolling out timed events to keep the community engaged and active after hitting max Power Level, so it will be interesting to see what else this expansion does to keep endgame players busy, as well as drawing in new or lapsed fans. War for Wakanda certainly has its work cut out for it, so it will be exciting to continue learning more details about the free expansion as its release window approaches.
