Marvel’s Avengers fans on PlayStation waited to play as Spider-Man for over a year, and now he is finally available. The wall-crawler features tons of cool moves, from unique traversal abilities like web-swinging to a web-based status effect that is entirely unique to his skillset. As expected, the latest hero added to Marvel’s Avengers also brings a large lineup of skins.

While Spidey will likely get some MCU skins like the game’s other heroes, there are some major comic book looks that are currently missing from the game. While it is nice to see legendary outfits like Noir and the various Spider Armors getting some representation, there are a few other comic book designs that should be added to the game at a later date. While some are more likely to be added than others, all boast some unique designs that would stand out from the current lineup of suits.

Spider-Man 2099

Kicking things off is one of the most iconic Spider-Man outfits never worn by Peter Parker himself. Miguel O’Hara, the futuristic Spider-Man from the year 2099, sported a costume that inverted Spidey’s usual color scheme. A vast majority of the suit was blue, with red lines for eyes and a truly unique emblem visible on Spider-Man 2099’s chest. The hero also featured bladed gauntlets similar to the DC hero Batman. With how popular recolors are in Marvel’s Avengers, Crystal Dynamics can also include the modern variant of the suit, which swaps the blue for white.

The Symbiote Suit

Apart from the original red and blue costume, the black suit is easily Spidey’s most iconic appearance ever. Acquired when the Venom symbiote paired with the wall-crawler, the costume features a massive white spider. The signature red and blue are nowhere to be seen, with the dark costume mirroring the darker personality Peter adopted after spending too much time with the symbiote. With the suit skipping Insomniac’s first entry in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, it would be nice to see it shown some love through Crystal Dynamics’ game soon.

Iron Spider

While the MCU’s Iron Spider suit is quickly becoming more popular than the comic book version that inspired it, it would still be nice to see the classic suit get a bit of love from Crystal Dynamics. Like the version in the movies, the armored suit came directly from Iron Man, with Tony Stark making the outfit for the wall-crawler after Peter joined his side in Civil War. However, there is no blue to be seen in the comic book version, with the armor being entirely red and gold just like Iron Man’s. While the extra legs would likely not feature, the suit would be cool to see in the marketplace.

Superior Spider-Man

One of the more recent suits that has quickly become iconic, the Superior Spider-Man costume was worn when Doctor Octopus took control of Peter Parker’s body. Setting out to be a better superhero than his archenemy, Otto’s run as the Superior Spider-Man was incredibly interesting. While Peter eventually took back his body, the suit has stuck with fans due to its black eyes and a unique spider emblem design that covers everything from the chest down in black. While it too had mechanical spider legs that would likely not make the transition, it is a standout costume even when the legs are retracted.

Scarlet Spider

Though The Clone Saga joins One More Day as one of the most despised Spider-Man arcs in the comics, Ben Reilly has gone on to redeem himself in some more recent storylines. Further, even those that hate Peter’s clone will struggle to argue against the idea that his various costumes have been well-designed. Out of Reilly’s suit lineup, it would be nice to see his most well-known costume inside Marvel’s Avengers. The Costume Shop cosmetic that is available in the game currently does a solid enough job at capturing the color scheme, but it would be nice to see the slanted emblem and web-free mask that made the proper Scarlet Spider suit so special.

Electrically Insulated

Spider-Man’s Electrically Insulated suit was worn when battling the supervillain Electro, and while it is not his flashiest look, the concept of a villain-proof suit is incredibly cool. Peter wore a dark mask with the costume and it had a reddish brown accent color, with bits of padding visible across the design as well. A unique take on the spider emblem also featured, and the suit had no visible webbing. While casual fans may have little interest in the skin, longtime comic readers would surely smile when seeing the outfit as part of the available lineup.

Captain Universe

While Spider-Man only had the abilities of Captain Universe for one fight, his time in control of the Uni-Power gave him a memorable costume. Alongside some energy blasts and matter manipulation, Peter’s temporary suit gave him the ability to fight off the extreme temperatures of outer space. All that remained from his original costume was the lower part of his red mask and his iconic eyes, as everything else was blue and white like the real Captain Universe - with some bright white circles added across Spidey’s chest. Seeing this odd suit in the marketplace or through Marvel’s Avengers’ Shipments one day would be a great surprise.

Miles Morales

Given Spider-Man’s PlayStation exclusivity and all the controversy surrounding the decision, it seems unlikely that Miles Morales will ever be added to the game. While it would be nice to see the young wall-crawler interact with Kamala Khan, and his Venom Blasts and camouflage would work well as special abilities, fans will surely be stuck thinking what could have been. However, that does not mean the character shouldn’t be honored through the inclusion of his beloved costume. Everything about the black suit looks great, with the red webbing, symbol, and accents ensuring that Miles’ outfit is instantly recognizable.

Bombastic Bag Man

One final comic book skin would not be a serious addition, but would be a ton of fun, nonetheless. With Spidey’s Future Foundation outfit already honored via a Marvel’s Avengers skin, Crystal Dynamics is clearly a fan of his bond with the Fantastic Four. As such, it would make sense for the developer to add this silly suit. In the comics, the outfit is worn when Peter gives up the symbiote and needs a costume, as the Fantastic Four lend him one of their spare outfits. However, with Spidey needing a mask, he wears a paper bag on his head while he’s out fighting crime. With goofy skins like Joe Fixit Hulk and Capwolf available, the Bombastic Bag Man design would be a great fit.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
