May 15, 2020 can't get here soon enough for fans of Marvel superheroes. Despite some ongoing confusion about exactly how the campaign and multiplayer aspects of Marvel's Avenger's are going to tie together, hype for the game is still incredibly high. It's been years since a Batman Arkham game and, aside from the PS4 exclusive Spider-Man title, there's been a drought on high-quality superhero gaming.

Although gamers around the world got a small taste of Marvel's Avengers gameplay footage while watching E3 2019 coverage, fans had to be at the event to watch the extended hands on demo and see a closer look. Luckily, just a few months later that extended gameplay demo is now officially available for everyone to watch.

The extended gameplay reveal runs for nearly 19 minutes, though at least a third of that is dedicated to a lot of the same cinematic footage that appeared during the E3 presentation. After getting through the setup for that bridge disaster the real fun starts though. The gameplay goes through at least a few minutes of combat and real time events with each of the core Avengers.

Although we're still only seeing what seems to be a basic tutorial level, it is encouraging to see how the combat plays out. Each character really seems to control differently and come equipped with their own strengths and weaknesses. There's definitely a lot of focus on melee from what we see, but it's nice to have Iron Man fly in and confirm that ranged DPS will likely also be a very real option in the game.

This is still just the tip of the iceberg for Marvel's Avengers and we're very much looking forward to future reveals that offer a look at other characters in addition to exactly what the game looks and feels like after this opening scenario is finished. A much closer look at multiplayer before release is obviously also going to be necessity to help sell this game as more than just an exciting one and done campaign.

Be sure to check back closer to the game's launch for more The Avengers news, updates, and strategy guides. Until then, get ready to Assemble!
