Marvel's Avengers has been a tumultuous game. For example, some fans are dissatisfied with the cosmetic loot marketplaces and the lack of unique Villain Sectors in Marvel's Avengers. However, Square Enix has demonstrated that it has been listening to at least some feedback, and will be permanently integrating a fan-favorite feature that debuted a couple of months ago.

Marvel's Avengers' Tachyon Anomaly Event was first introduced back in April, and allowed fans to play as any number of repeated characters in multiplayer matchmaking. For instance, a four-player online Strike Team during the Tachyon Anomaly Event could consist of two Thors and two Hawkeyes, four Black Widows, or any combination that players wanted. Ultimately, this made it so fans were not locked out of a particular character that they wished to play when entering a queue with other players.

Square Enix discussed its Summer 2021 content roadmap for Marvel's Avengers, which showcases different events and updates occurring in the upcoming months. Within this discussion, Square Enix announced that the choice of being able to play as any combination of characters in Marvel's Avengers' online matchmaking will be activated permanently going forward. Fans who enjoyed that the Tachyon Anomaly Event enabled more freedom when selecting characters in matchmaking may be excited for this to become a regular feature in July.

July already brings the Omega-Level Threat: Family Reunion event. This lands the character selection feature between Multiplayer Mega Hives and the Marvel Cinematic Universe skins being added to Marvel's Avengers. The War for Wakanda Expansion arrives in August. With the Tachyon Anomaly feature implemented in time for the expansion, players will seemingly be able to join multiplayer matchmaking and Strike Teams with a team assembled of only Black Panthers if they wish.

Square Enix stated that more information about this feature will be addressed in July, when it is scheduled to be implemented. Square Enix also intends to release the next roadmap for Marvel's Avengers in the coming months. Fans may be excited to hear more news about Spider-Man joining Marvel's Avengers, as little information regarding the character has been addressed since his announcement.

Until then, fans may also be excited for the War for Wakanda expansion. Black Panther's addition to the game will usher in the largest content expansion that Marvel's Avengers has received since launch, such as a Wakandan Jungle Biome and Outpost, and a new story featuring the villain Ulysses Klaw. Based on Square Enix's roadmap, Marvel's Avengers fans still have a lot to look forward to in 2021.

Marvel's Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
