Marvel’s Avengers has just released War for Wakanda, with the expansion bringing an enjoyable campaign that boasts some solid acting and mission variety. Christopher Judge’s T’Challa and Steve Blum’s Klaue steal the show, while Wakanda is a much-needed breath of fresh air when it comes to the game’s locations. With some new objectives to match the stunning scenery, as well as plenty of skins to collect for the Wakandan King, there is a lot to love about the Marvel's Avengers DLC.

Still, for all its strengths, Black Panther's content is on the shorter side, with the main story clocking in at about four hours. As such, gamers may be wondering where the live service title will be going next, as a roadmap has yet to be revealed for the next batch of content. Fortunately, Crystal Dynamics has confirmed certain features that will be coming, and some exciting leaks have given players an idea of what can be expected in the future. As such, here is what could be coming to Marvel’s Avengers in the coming months.

Spider-Man’s Debut And Other Planned Content

Spider Man PS exclusive date announced

After over a year of waiting, players will finally be seeing Spider-Man become playable near the end of 2021. While Crystal Dynamics has not yet confirmed a precise release date for Spider-Man’s DLC, it has reiterated that he will be added before 2022 arrives. While fans have plenty of questions about how his traversal will be handled and who the villain of his Operation will be, they do know that they will control a different Spider-Man than the one seen in Insomniac’s games. Given just how much has been added for the other characters, players can also expect a lot of awesome suits to accompany Peter Parker.

Alongside Spider-Man, the Wasteland Patrol Mode is confirmed to be coming sometime soon. Delayed from its initial release date, the mode will let players jump back into the post-apocalyptic future that was inhabited by Old Man Hawkeye and Maestro. The Patrol will see players being unchained from traditional objectives, as they can free roam around the large area for as long as they please. Supposedly, players will have unique missions and rewards to complete within the mode, and they can choose to exfil whenever they have had their fill.

Alongside this unique game mode and the PlayStation exclusive Spider-Man DLC, Marvel’s Avengers players can expect a new Omega Level Threat. With Crystal Dynamics confirming that it will be tied to the Wakanda characters and storyline, it will likely release in a few weeks’ time. As such, players should focus on leveling up Black Panther quickly, getting T’Challa ready for this endgame mission. While these are likely to be the next three pieces of extra content for the game, players should expect the Omega Level Threat to come first.

Reworks For Cosmetics, Gear, And More

Marvels Avengers Daily Factions

One of the most requested features thus far has been the cosmetic rework for Marvel’s Avengers, something that fans have waited several months for. Fortunately, it does still seem to be in the works, something that should be great news for those that want to earn new skins instead of buying them from the Marketplace. With players likely having a massive number of units in their inventories, but nothing more to spend them on due to the cosmetic vendor’s barren inventory, this feature could not come soon enough.

Another long-requested rework is tied to Marvel’s Avengers’ gear. Many gamers who have spent a lot of time with the game would agree that there are several issues with the loot, with one of the biggest being just how random it is. Players cannot farm certain gear pieces from specific sources, nor can they re-roll the status effects and special boosts attached to them. As such, many are hoping for a re-roll system to be added as well as more specific loot sources. While Marvel’s Avengers fans also want Injustice-like gear that has a cosmetic effect, the other issues will hopefully be prioritized.

One last potential rework has not been touched on by Crystal Dynamics, but the developer should keep an eye on the ongoing discussion. With Black Panther being so melee-focused in terms of his abilities, yet still being most effective at range, he shows just how much attention the game’s melee system needs. While melee attacks work fine in early to mid-level content, any endgame missions will almost always be easier to tackle with ranged attacks. Being forced to lean on these kinds of abilities as someone like Black Panther is off-putting, and hopefully something will be done to make him and other heroes stronger up close.

Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, And Other Leaked Heroes

Alongside confirmed content and potential reworks, Crystal Dynamics has teased more villains, locations, and enemy factions for players to fight. As it turns out, these factions will likely be fought with entirely new heroes leading the way, as several characters have leaked for Marvel’s Avengers. This rumored hero roster is extensive, but based on the game’s code, some characters are more likely than others. Files for She-Hulk, The Winter Soldier, War Machine, and Captain Marvel have all been discovered, making them likely additions to the game.

Recently, dialogue with Zawavari in Marvel’s Avengers has appeared, seemingly confirming that more characters are on the way. When entering his chambers, the Wakandan sorcerer can be heard talking to different Marvel characters instead of the hero that walks into the room. This has seemingly confirmed Scarlet Witch for Marvel’s Avengers, as well as Doctor Strange, Wong, and Loki. Given that all these characters’ powers have a basis in magic, players could be looking at one large arc in the game’s ongoing story.

With so many heroes found in the code, and others seemingly confirmed through dialogue, there does seem to be a lot to be excited about going forward. Players can also expect heroes like Doctor Strange to bring some interesting bosses alongside an entirely unique playstyle, with nothing like magic currently existing in the game. Captain Marvel could bring the Kree storyline to an end as well if she actually comes to the game. Obviously, fans should not get their hopes up until these heroes are officially confirmed, with only Spider-Man being guaranteed. Still, there do seem to be several reasons to be optimistic, and hopefully a content roadmap will come soon that tells fans exactly what they can expect from the game’s future.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
