Marvel’s Avengers is quickly approaching its next War Table, and with confirmation that the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game will be discussed, it seems like it will be a big one. However, Marvel’s Avengers fans may be seeing a next-gen release date that is sooner than expected.

A month after Marvel’s Avengers released, it was announced that the next-gen versions were delayed indefinitely. With updates limited to 2021 and leaks suggesting that the free upgrade could not come until Summer, fans have been doubtful about the improved versions of the game coming anytime soon. However, it appears that there is a reason to be hopeful, as the PlayStation 5 version of Marvel’s Avengers' trophy list has appeared online.

Showing up on several trophy tracking websites like PSNProfiles, this PS5 list for Marvel’s Avengers implies that a release is imminent. Typically, trophy lists appear online a few weeks ahead of a game’s release, with the earliest trophy appearances coming a month ahead of release and the latest showing a few days prior to a game’s PlayStation debut. With this in mind, it seems likely that Crystal Dynamics will have a next-gen release date ready at the next Marvel’s Avengers War Table — and that this launch will be coming sooner rather than later.

Marvels Avengers Kate Bishop DLC

Likely to drop in the month of February or early March, the PS5 and Xbox Series X could help restore the game’s reputation if all goes well. With the next War Table also highlighting the Hawkeye DLC and showing off the new antagonist Maestro, it is possible that Crystal Dynamics will have the expansion release alongside the next-gen versions. While this is purely speculation, it is not out of the realm of possibility that Hawkeye and the next-gen upgrades are treated as shadow drops and playable as soon as the War Table ends.

Regardless of when exactly the next-gen versions will arrive, though, the launch date certainly seems to be coming sooner rather than later. For any Marvel’s Avengers players interested in what the trophies will entail, players can expect to have the same series of objectives to complete once again. A separate version of the original trophy list, players can earn the same trophies and achievements again, with no new objectives added to the lineup. It is currently unclear if a cross-save feature will automatically unlock all the trophies like it has with other cross-gen games.

Regardless, it seems like Marvel’s Avengers players have a reason to be optimistic about the month of February. While it is unclear if Hawkeye and the incoming next-gen upgrades will save Marvel's Avengers, they are a solid step in the right direction at the very least.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
