Marvel’s Avengers is currently in the process of being reworked, with Crystal Dynamics taking fan feedback into consideration when it comes to building the game’s future. However, with the plan to save Marvel’s Avengers being an abundance of free post-launch content, the studio is going to need to start releasing that DLC soon. Fortunately, it seems like the game’s DLC train is about to take off, with a new hero set to accompany the arrival of Kate Bishop sometime in the next few weeks.

Marvel’s Avengers fans that have stayed in the loop regarding the game’s DLC plans will have a good idea of who will be coming to the game next, as Crystal Dynamics has previously confirmed the character in one of its War Table streams. For those who have not been keeping up to date with the struggling games-as-a-service title, learning that Kate Bishop will be accompanied by her legendary mentor and friend could come as a surprise.

Clint Barton: The Original Hawkeye

hawkeye in marvel's avengers game

Originally revealed long before the September release of Marvel’s Avengers, Clint Barton will be the next hero to come to the game. Crystal Dynamics’ comic-accurate take on Hawkeye will see the skilled archer accompanied by his loyal canine Lucky, with the studio also pulling from the source material by making their Hawkeye deaf. Seen with a hearing aid in his reveal trailer, the design is likely to please fans of the hero, and the character’s arrival will make him the second Hawkeye in the game.

Voiced by Giacomo Gianniotti, Clint has already shared a few scenes with his protege Kate in her own Marvel's Avengers DLC. Aside from building off the popular duo’s comic book bond, Hawkeye’s story has gone in some interesting directions as well. Working undercover with Nick Fury to prevent an alternate future where the Kree wipe out humanity, the thrilling time travel story set up in the Kate Bishop DLC is set to continue with Barton’s own narrative.

With Barton left in an extremely injured state in the final moments of the Kate Bishop expansion, it will be interesting to see how he recovers in time for his own DLC. Regardless, players will be taking control of the character as they explore the post-apocalyptic future that he came from. With each hero DLC bringing a new Avengers villain for players to do battle with, fans of Marvel comics should be excited by Hawkeye’s incoming foe. As shown in the Hawkeye teaser at the end of the last Marvel’s Avengers War Table, Clint will be doing battle with an evil, alternate reality version of Hulk called Maestro.

The DLC Heroes Beyond Hawkeye

While the original Hawkeye will likely be coming soon due to an official Marvel’s Avengers website teaser, his arrival has been known about for some time. While players will surely be excited to wield the hero’s bow (and possibly his Ronin sword), some Marvel’s Avengers fans may be wondering what characters will come to the game in 2021. Fortunately, that answer is known as well, as one of 2021’s first heroes is confirmed — and a second has already been teased.

Players will be taking control of Spider-Man come 2021, with the webslinger set to be exclusive to PlayStation platforms upon his arrival. However, Spidey is not the only character set to join the roster, as Black Panther was teased before the game launched. Originally set to be shown in the game’s pre-launch War Table stream, the King of Wakanda’s trailer was delayed due to the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman. With the next hero bringing along a new region and Black Panther’s voice actor already leaking, it seems highly likely that players will soon be exploring Wakanda as T’Challa. With Clint Barton, Black Panther, and Spider-Man all on their way, hopefully, Marvel’s Avengers can right the ship and become the game fans want it to be.

Marvel's Avengers is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
