Crystal Dynamics has given players another skin to add to Marvel's Avengers' already long list of heroic attire, with Hawkeye the recipient this time around and getting a suit straight out of the classic comics. It is not the first suit Crystal Dynamics has taken from the comic page and given to Marvel Comics' greatest archer, though previous additions have come from more recent iterations of Clint Barton. The newest suit, by contrast, is a blast from the past and will let players live out any retro fantasy they fave from Hawkeye's early days.

The studio announced the newest skin inside Marvel's Avengers' marketplace on the game's official Twitter, giving players a proper look at the latest retro suit. His new suit looks as if it was lifted right from The Avengers comics of the late-60s and 70s, which featured the purple-clad archer regularly during this time as the team battled the likes of Arcade, Crossfire, and Baron Zemo. To hammer this home, Crystal Dynamics included an image of one such Avengers comic from the aforementioned time period with Hawkeye front-and-center.

With the suit, Hawkeye now joins the rest of the launch roster and Kate Bishop as having what some players may consider a true comic-inspired "throwback" skin. Iron Man and Thor, in particular, also have classic-style skins available from the early days of The Avengers between Iron Man's original red and gold suit and Thor's bucket-like helmet. It leaves Black Panther and Spider-Man as the only two DLC characters to not have a similar suit available, though it would not be surprising to see ones added in the future.

Aside from being a throwback, the suit also provides players a break from the ongoing addition of Marvel Cinematic Universe-inspired suits. It isn't surprising that so many of those costumes have featured given the MCU's ongoing popularity and Crystal Dynamics having so many films and TV shows to pull from. It isn't out of the question for Thor's Ravager suit from Thor: Love and Thunder or Hulk's casual attire seen in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law to find their way into the game.

It now becomes a question as to what new suits for the purple archer may find their way into the game down the road. One of the most visually striking options on the table for Crystal Dynamics is Barton's days as Captain America, something which caught many readers by surprise in the mid-2000s. The archer traded the bow for the vibranium shield in the wake of Steve Rogers' apparent death following the original Civil War arc, which could make for a unique melded costume in the game if Crystal Dynamics wanted to pursue this option.

Marvel's Avengers is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
