As another step toward improving Marvel’s Avengers, Crystal Dynamics has listened to fan feedback and lowered the price of certain items within the marketplace. Specifically, players will need less Credits for the emotes and takedowns that can be purchased within the Marvel’s Avengers shop.

Fans looking to purchase items in the shop with their free Marvel’s Avengers currency bundle can now make the most out of the credits provided, as two of the cosmetic microtransactions in the game have seen their prices shaved by 50%. Recently, Crystal Dynamics lowered the microtransaction prices temporarily as part of a thank you event for players, and a new screen when loading up the game confirms that some of those changes are here to stay.

While the changes are unlikely to make some people stop viewing Marvel’s Avengers as a dying game, players sticking with the game and enjoying it should approve of the price drop. From now on, Epic Takedowns will only be 600 credits as opposed to their original 1200, while Legendary emotes have been lowered to 500 credits each. Likewise, Epic and Rare emotes are now 250 credits and 125 credits, respectively. These cosmetic prices should seem more appealing to players, and Crystal Dynamics is surely hoping the items are purchased more often in response.

It is worth noting, however, that other cosmetics were not mentioned in the post. While nameplate prices have never been viewed as overly expensive, the purchasable costumes of Marvel’s Avengers have been cited as far too costly by many players in the past. With the new menu screen not mentioning anything regarding the outfits, it can be assumed that the prices will return to normal when the half-off marketplace event concludes. If players want an alternate costume for DLC hero Black Panther, they may be forced to spend a good bit of money on credits.

The price reduction for takedowns and emotes is a positive quality of life change for Marvel’s Avengers, but for many players, it may not be enough. With the lack of replayable content being the primary issue for Marvel’s Avengers players, as well as major bugs and stability problems, marketplace updates seem low on the list. Still, making these changes was likely far easier for Crystal Dynamics than designing brand new content for the game. The content drought can certainly be felt, however, and hopefully Kate Bishop arrives to the game soon to help alleviate players’ boredom.

With Marvel’s Avengers selling nearly as much as Marvel’s Spider-Man, there is hope that Crystal Dynamics can right the ship. Though marketplace changes may have be too little too late for some players, they are a small step in the right direction for the game’s future.

Marvel's Avengers is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions currently in development.
