Much like many other titles out right now, Marvel's Avengers is a loot-based game with gear customization, which means that players will likely spend a lot of time grinding for specific gear and skills to get their favorite superheroes endgame ready. In a recent interview, the game's creative director Noah Hughes shed a little bit of light on what players can expect to find after tackling the action-packed campaign, specifically in regards to the loot they will chase.

Crystal Dynamic's take on the Avengers is introducing classic looter concepts into the superhero formula, allowing players to create builds for their favorite heroes to take on more challenging content in the game. Marvel's Avengers will feature loot progression that may seem familiar when compared to many popular looter games out right now, like Destiny and Borderlands. As players grind through more challenging content, they will unlock more and more gear that may allow them to access even more abilities to use in the challenging content that the game has to offer.

A large part of the customization in Marvel's Avengers comes from suits and other equipment players will unlock. Much like games with transmog abilities, like Diablo 3, players will be able to have independent customization between visual looks and mechanical bonuses. While the heroes and regions in Marvel's Avengers will be free, Crystal Dynamics did make note that any microtransactions in the game would be purely cosmetic, meaning that players could potentially buy different looks for their favorite heroes.

Marvel's Avengers has come under some backlash following the showcase at E3, mainly due to the peculiar character designs for the iconic superheroes. Crystal Dynamics addressed the new Avengers character designs in a post-E3 interview, but did not directly address the backlash from fans. The developers did state that the designs were an evolving process, so they may change as the March 2020 launch approaches. Perhaps there may even be some cosmetics to unlock in the game that will allow players to change the heroes into more fitting looks, but players may have to wait until launch to see if that wish comes true.

Marvel's Avengers launches March 15, 2020 for Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
