Marvel's Avengers had a strong start, but unfortunately, the live-service superhero game seems to be struggling to maintain its audience. Marvel's Avengers on PC has matchmaking issues due to low player counts, and it seems as though most players have moved on. However, Crystal Dynamics is dedicated to keep fans engaged with the game, promising some compelling new content on the way.

Many Marvel's Avengers reviews praised the Reassemble story campaign, but criticized the game's live-service elements. Luckily, those who played Marvel's Avengers for the campaign will soon have a new reason to return to the game, as Crystal Dynamics has confirmed some exciting new details about the upcoming Kate Bishop DLC. Entitled Taking Aim, the Kate Bishop DLC takes place after the events of the main story campaign, so those interested will need to play the Kate Bishop DLC if they want to see what happens next.

Taking Aim will see Kate Bishop added to the roster of playable heroes in Marvel's Avengers as the team becomes aware of Tachyon Rifts summoning a new threat. More details on what this "new threat" is will have to wait, but fans should learn more later this year.

Beyond the Kate Bishop DLC, Crystal Dynamics has teased some other new content for Marvel's Avengers as well. Unless plans have changed, the Hawkeye DLC is also expected to launch before the year is out, with more information on him set to come at a later date. And in 2021, Crystal Dynamics promises the biggest expansion yet for Marvel's Avengers, which will not only add a new hero to the game, but a new region and story arc as well.

Crystal Dynamics stopped short of identifying the new hero it is referring to, but one distinct possibility is Black Panther. Black Panther DLC has already been teased for Marvel's Avengers, and so it seems like his addition to the game would make the most sense. Alternatively, maybe Crystal Dynamics is referring to a different hero that's been teased before, like Ant-Man, for instance.

One hero that Crystal Dynamics is likely not referring to is Spider-Man. The Spider-Man DLC for Marvel's Avengers will be exclusive to PlayStation platforms, and because of that, it seems unlikely that it will get quite as much content as some of the other heroes that are coming to the game.

While Marvel's Avengers may be going through a rough patch right now, other live-service games have proven that fans will return if developers deliver compelling, worthwhile content. And with plenty of new heroes and story content in the works, fans should have plenty of reasons to be excited about the future of Marvel's Avengers.

Marvel's Avengers is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
