It is an exciting day for Marvel’s Avengers players as a new look is finally shared for its latest character. Rumors of Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor coming to Marvel’s Avengers as the next playable character started as early as March this year, and those claims were officially confirmed in April.

It was said that Jane would make her appearance in Marvel’s Avengers’ update 2.5 at that time, which was still a ways away. It was previously announced in an animated story trailer for Jane that she would be releasing for all players on June 28. But her character’s initiation into Marvel’s Avengers would be incomplete without a behind-the-scenes developer deep-dive, which is now available with an in-depth look at Jane’s gameplay.

Marvel’s Avengers' Mighty Thor War Table aired earlier this morning and offered players the same treatment it has for the rest of its post-launch character additions. Players are finally given a look at Jane Foster’s gameplay with a brief preface for her character’s origins in the comic book source material, where Marvel’s Avengers will hopefully turn to for some exciting cosmetics. Her gameplay, while resembling that of Thor, centers almost exclusively around abilities and mechanics with Mjolnir as she “deploys the mighty hammer in ways that Odinson never did.”

Jane’s “unique talent with Mjolnir” affords her abilities such as God Tempest that create shockwaves and enhance ranged hammer attacks. Complementing this is a Quick Fire hammer throw that lets players throw it again upon catching it for more damage, similar to Captain America’s own shield throw. Further, Seek and Pin launches an enemy into the air and pins them against a surface, Earth’s Finest complements light attack combos with an added hammer throw, and Thunder Kick launches enemies backward with a “brutal front kick.”

However, Jane’s most intriguing ability is her All-Weapon Ultimate Heroic, which sends Mjolnir autonomously flying about to strike targets while Jane herself wields Undrjarn, a mystical golden hammer that reduces all incoming damage. While Undrjarn is wielded, players can also use the autonomous Mjolnir as a “personal orbiting defense shield.” It is also importantly noted during Marvel’s Avengers’ War Table that Jane is now the third playable character capable of flying, which will hopefully add more diversity to teams in multiplayer.

Other cosmetics are teased and details about Jane’s Hero Challenge Card are mentioned in the back-half of the War Table before her release date is again shared. Indeed, fans will be able to begin playing as Jane’s Mighty Thor on June 28 across all available platforms. Marvel’s Avengers still has more unannounced characters that have leaked in the past, and it will be interesting to see if any of them follow Jane’s release.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
