Much like any game with an exciting ensemble cast that is able to grow as a live-service, Marvel's Avengers fans have always speculated about which characters might appear. Black Panther's War for Wakanda DLC expansion has not even released yet, but fans are continuing to share their hopes for the next post-launch addition to Marvel's Avengers' roster.

Spider-Man, for instance, is slated to be a hotly anticipated DLC addition and was marketed as a PlayStation-exclusive. Besides a recent update sharing that Spider-Man's inclusion into Marvel's Avengers is moving forward as planned, fans are impatiently waiting for substantial information about the next characters that will debut in the game.

Reddit user bogeyj asks, if players could only choose between Doctor Strange or Scarlet Witch, which character they would choose to be added into Marvel's Avengers. Fans debate the merit that each character would bring to gameplay and what their roles in a team-oriented multiplayer game may propose. Doctor Stephen Strange's mysticism and dark arts could produce visually striking spells and incantations on-screen, and Wanda Maximoff's chaos magic could warp reality to generate interesting moments in gameplay and take advantage of next-gen system hardware.

Fans seem to celebrate both characters as being equally deserving, with perhaps a slight edge toward Scarlet Witch since she is considered to be more of a "core Avenger." While Clint Barton and Kate Bishop have been worthwhile additions, fans believe that the potential for characters with more diverse gameplay mechanics should be a priority moving forward. Further, fans agree that Scarlet Witch's inclusion would combat the current gender diversity in Marvel's Avengers' predominantly male roster.

Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch are perhaps the most fan-requested of the many Marvel characters because of their current popularity in the MCU. But another reason why they may be highly requested is because magic usage would bring about completely new gameplay and combat that Marvel's Avengers is currently lacking. Jay_R_Kay argues that "if the game will allow two archers, they should be able to allow two magic users." This would ultimately tip the scales for power-balancing in Marvel's Avengers and allow for exciting gameplay between the two.

Neither character is currently announced for Marvel's Avengers, but fan speculation demonstrates that players would prefer to have characters included that diversify gameplay. In the meantime, players are excited for Black Panther's upcoming addition to Marvel's Avengers and for more news about Spider-Man's long-awaited arrival.

Marvel's Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
