Marvel’s Avengers fans learned a lot about the game’s future at Square Enix Presents, as Crystal Dynamics shared a full roadmap with fans that details the game’s future content. In this roadmap, players are given some exciting bits of information about the future, including confirmation that MCU-themed Avengers skins will finally be coming to the game. Viewers were also given some insight into new HARM room content themed around Black Widow’s Red Room, a Cosmic Cube-themed Villain Sector, and an expansion of Hawkeye’s Wasteland area into a full region.
A roadmap was not all that was shared for Marvel’s Avengers in the presentation, however. The event also detailed the next hero that will be coming to the game, and they will be bringing a major expansion along with them. While a precise release date was not shared, fans were given a window, and a look at both the hero’s costume and story were provided. With the voice actor and villain known too, players have a lot to look forward to when they take on the role of Wakanda’s king.
Black Panther Is Coming
Originally teased before Marvel's Avengers was even released, Black Panther’s DLC will bring the hero to players sometime time summer. As opposed to just getting a new Operation added along with him, though, King T’Challa is getting a proper expansion. The expansion will see Klaw leading an army of new enemies in an attempt to take over Wakanda and steal its Vibranium. In War For Wakanda, players will be able to control Black Panther and the other heroes as they fight through the gorgeous jungles and cities of the country.
The level cap will also be raised, and new hero outfits themed around the expansion will be added — possibly seeing Black Panther fit the Avengers roster with suits made from Vibranium. A new outpost will be added alongside Black Panther, while a battle with Klaw himself has been confirmed. Though T’Challa’s moveset has not yet been shown, his stunning costume has. Fans also know that he will be voiced by Kratos actor Christopher Judge, confirming leaks from a few months back.
Who Will Debut After Black Panther?
Black Panther’s arrival is exciting, and while his appearance is long overdue, players already have an idea of who to expect next. For PlayStation fans, Spider-Man will release after Black Panther, confirming that the webslinger will likely be the next character that is added to the game. With Crystal Dynamics still hard at work on developing the character, it can be expected that Spider-Man will be an addition that is made closer to the end of the year.
While Spider-Man’s Marvel's Avengers content is exciting for PlayStation owners, those on other platforms will not be given the chance to play as the character. Fortunately, a leaked DLC roster has provided insight into who could be coming next, with She-Hulk supposedly set to arrive after Spider-Man and Black Panther. She will be followed by Winter Soldier, Captain Marvel, and War Machine. While other characters have leaked in the past, including Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, it remains to be seen if they will ever arrive to the game.
Regardless, the future for Marvel’s Avengers is looking brighter than it has in quite some time. Square Enix Presents, the next gen updates, and the Hawkeye DLC have all started the game on its long road to recovery. Provided that Black Panther arrives on time, and if his expansion meets fans’ expectations, Marvel’s Avengers could actually succeed at making a massive turnaround. While other games have come back from worse in recent years, many players were quick to give up on Marvel’s Avengers. While it is still too early to say for sure, perhaps Crystal Dynamics will be able to prove the naysayers wrong.
