Marvel fans have been hungry for new info and looks at the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game from developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix, as there is n. And while these two newly released screenshots might not seem like much, they do appear to reveal an Avenger that yes yet to be revealed.

Marvel’s Avengers was originally supposed to release last month on May 15, but was delayed to September 4 to ensure that Crystal Dynamics was able, “to deliver the ultimate Avengers gaming experience.” Part of that delay was likely for the makeover each of the Avengers received after the internet lambasted their original appearances. Details have more scarce since then, as the team at Crystal Dynamics has likely hunkered down to wrap up production.

The official Avengers Twitter account released two new screenshots for fans to use as video conferencing backgrounds, a trend that has become fairly common as people work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The screenshots are of Kamala Khan’s bedroom. Kamala is a younger character in the Marvel universe that is an in-universe super-fan of the Avengers, and as such has her bedroom decked out in Avengers swag. There are plenty of fun things, like an “Iron Man Xing” sign and a Captain America bean bag chair, but the most interesting item is a poster of Captain Marvel, Kamala’s idol and namesake for when she becomes the superhero Miss Marvel. There is also a real-world comic cover of Captain Marvel on Kamala’s wall, but the poster is actually a recreation of sorts of another famous real-world Captain Marvel comic cover.

This marks the first time fans have been able to see what Captain Marvel will likely look like in the final game. The costume looks like a cross between her comic outfit and her MCU costume, which is worn by actress Brie Larson. While Crystal Dynamics confirmed that more playable characters will be playable by way of DLC, the initial release of the game will only have 6 playable characters, which includes Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. This leaves out Captain Marvel as a playable character, but it is possible that she will still be a part of the story, or will be playable as DLC.

Marvel’s Avengers  releases for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One on September 4, 2020.
