Crystal Dynamics hasn't been shy about pulling from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for new suits to add to Marvel's Avengers and let players live out their ultimate comic book fantasy. Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Thor: Ragnarok are just a few of the films the studio has given a nod to in-game with skins to outfit heroes like Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, and Hulk. For the latest skin, though, Crystal Dynamics took from one of the most popular films in the MCU for Captain America players to live out their ultimate SHIELD agent fantasy.

Crystal Dynamics announced on Marvel's Avengers' official Twitter it was adding Cap's stealth suit from Captain America: The Winter Soldier with its latest update. The suit, as the name implies, is Steve Roger's most subtle and visually muted suit in the MCU with a vibranium shield to match, reflecting his time working as an agent of SHIELD. It is not known if this suit also comes with a tracking node for SHIELD to keep track of Cap as it did in the film, though given the context of the game, it is likely missing it.

As mentioned, Winter Soldier is widely regarded as one of the most popular films in the MCU's roughly 15-year history, especially among the standalone films. Comic book readers were quick to pick up on the film adapting the 2005 Winter Soldier storyline which brought back Cap's loyal friend Bucky Barnes, believed to have died in World War 2, back into the spotlight as the titular brainwashed assassin in the service of Roxxon executive and former Soviet general Aleksander Lukin. While Bucky was still a brainwashed assassin in the film, the film traded Roxxon and the Soviet Union for a reborn Hydra operating within SHIELD.

The addition of the stealth suit also serves as the fifth MCU-inspired skin Crystal Dynamics has made for the game's iteration of Captain America, previously pulling from three Avengers' films and Captain America: The First Avenger. He now stands alongside his fellow Avengers and former SHIELD agents Black Widow and Hawkeye who each have five MCU skins, as well. However, Iron Man and Thor remain atop the rest of the team as the only two heroes in Marvel's Avengers with seven MCU-inspired skins.

As for any additional Captain America skins Crystal Dynamics could include, his choice of MCU attire has largely run thin. This is partly due to the Avengers: Endgame skin already in the game is the same overall suit Cap can be seen wearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. It wouldn't be surprising if, going forward, any additional Captain America skins are either original creations from the studio or come directly from the comics.

Marvel's Avengers is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
