Although Marvel's Avengers has had a pretty rocky launch to say the least, there are still some dedicated players who have stuck with the game and are grinding away each week waiting for new content to drop. The first major DLC arrives tomorrow with the Kate Bishop story missions, but until then players are stuck working through the usual weekly challenges and missions. One later had a bit of excitement added to that grind this weekend when a Captain America player in a multiplayer match started throwing around Thor's Mjolnir instead of the usual shield.

Multiple clips were uploaded to Reddit and quickly became incredibly popular. Although this is likely just an asset glitch, fans are already speculating about what a Mjolnir-wielding Cap subclass could be like. In all of the clips, it seems like Captain America is performing his usual attacks and special abilities, but the shield asset has been swapped for Thor's hammer. At this point it is unclear if this is an unintentional glitch or the result of some kind of unauthorized Marvel's Avengers mod or hack.

Spoiler alert for Avengers Endgame, but Captain America wielding Mjolnir became very popular when the hero took up the iconic weapon during the final throwdown with Thanos in the 2019 film. Although this is likely not an intentional appearance or something that devs are working on, there's no denying that offering that option in the game would be very appealing to a lot of players.

An extended clip from Ms Marvel's perspective offers another look at the Mjolnir-wielding Cap player's action...

The player who captured the footage and reported the sighting to Reddit said that they messages the Cap player, but did not get a response. Since this is such strange footage, it's also worth mentioning that there is also the chance the gameplay is doctored or edited in some way. At this point, there is definitely no official way for Captain America to use Mjolnir in the game and this is a glitch at best or fake footage at worst. Either way, there's no denying that seeing Cap throw around the hammer has a lot of fans excited about the idea of what that sort of subclass would be like...

There's just one day left until Kate Bishop arrives in Marvel's Avengers, so players should get ready for some new story missions and a brand new Challenge Card to work through. Endgame players are likely more focused on Tachyon Rifts at this point, but the HARM challenges are a nice warm-up for any player to work through once per week as long as new or rare comics are up for grabs as a reward as they wait for the new content to arrive.

Marvel's Avengers is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions currently in development.
