One player of Marvel’s Avengers came across a rather bizarre bug while playing as The Winter Soldier. The Square Enix game has been no stranger to glitches since its middling release in 2020, making this just one of many Marvel’s Avengers bugs.

With the Avengers IP being internationally recognizable, and associated with one of the biggest movie franchises of all time, Square Enix had a hefty responsibility when developing the game. Due to lack of content, the introduction of progression-based microtransactions, and the developers seemingly not listening to the fans in regard to either, the game has struggled to shake off its initial tepid response and rework itself as an interesting game in contrast to the team at Hello Games, who continue to work on their IP, such as bringing back limited-time expeditions to No Man's Sky.

The continuation of bugs two years after its release does not cast the game in a good light either. Luckily, bugs such as Captain America with bulging eyes and this latest glitch are not game-breaking, but instead could be played off as amusing or even somewhat charming. In the clip posted to Reddit, the user shows themself playing as Bucky and stopping to face the screen. After which, The Winter Soldier’s legs stretch and twist behind him as a gun pops into his hands. Captain America’s shield then slices into him before dancing around his body. The lighting on the floor gives the scene a feeling of a bizarre and impossible dance.

Multiple Reddit users commented to say that the bug is akin to some Michael Jackson dance moves. While many others took it as a chance to take a dig at the focus on microtransactions in Marvel's Avengers, with one Reddit user saying it was punishment for not buying enough skins and another referring to the glitch as a paid emote.

Currently, this seems to be the only recorded instance of the body morphing bug, many Reddit users also commented to say that they have suffered the same issue. One user suspects that the issue may be linked to The Winter Soldier’s skin. The general tone of conversation in the comments seems to be an expectation for there to be a lot of bugs in Marvel’s Avengers.

With the game having been made available to Playstation Plus subscription earlier this year, more players are able to play the game. This is a double-edged sword for Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix. With more people playing the game, there will be more instances of bugs being discovered, ultimately meaning more work and bad press for the developers and publisher. Equally, this will mean more money being put into microtransactions. With that money and care and support from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix, hopefully, Marvel’s Avengers will be able to become a live-service game to match the movie franchise. As it currently stands, fans want more for Marvel's Avengers.

Marvel's Avengers is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
