There has been a lot said about Marvel's Avengers. While the game's sales are comparable to Marvel's Spider-Man, it has not received nearly as much critical praise.

The problems that many players have with Marvel's Avengers are varied, from uninspired level and enemy designs to an unsatisfying loot grind. Players have left the game in droves, but Crystal Dynamics is working to get them back. Additional content is being released, and changes are supposedly on the way to address player concerns. Some of that new content includes heroes, and designs for Black Panther and War Machine have already been discovered.

The leak of Black Panther and War Machine applies to their in-game appearances. War Machine looks about the same as most players would expect, wearing a bulkier, black-and-chrome variant of the Iron Man suit brimming with firepower like a shoulder-mounted machinegun and rocket launcher. By contrast, Black Panther looks far different than many would expect. Rather than the traditional Black Panther suit, the suit looks heavily armored and padded, closer to regular armor than a costume. It also seems more blue than black.

It's certainly a strange costume to be leaked for Black Panther, and a few players have responded with confusion. There's a chance that this is only one costume for the character, and will be optional in the game. Beyond the costume itself, a few ability names and symbols have surfaced that could be tied to Black Panther or a separate character, but it indicates someone new is coming nonetheless. Hopefully, this can put to rest fears that characters are far off, or that they are simply skins and not additional heroes.

The new heroes should hopefully be fun to play when they launch, as they certainly look ready to go. Marvel's Avengers has drawn unfavorable comparisons to Anthem, and some of this could be cleared up with new ways to play. It likely won't solve all the problems, but more story and more characters are usually welcome additions to any game.

However, while heroes are all well and good, many players are eager for more villains to join the game's roster as well. There are several villains that players want to see in Avengers as bosses and long-term antagonists. Hopefully, they will receive as much or more love as the heroes still coming to the game.

Marvel's Avengers is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
