While the game struggled mightily in the first months after its launch, Marvel's Avengers has improved drastically as of late. The road ahead looks at least somewhat promising. The game isn't without its issues, but the launch of the Kate Bishop DLC has been a much-needed boost.

For any new players to the game, or players who took a break and need a refresher now that Kate is out, this list provides some tips, tricks, and reminders on how to take your characters from zeroes to heroes. Here are the best ways to boost them to a 150 power level.

Updated May 15th, 2021 by Erik Petrovich: The online looter-super Marvel's Avengers has been out for about a year now and has secured several major updates and even DLC characters under its belt. When leveling to 150 power level, it's easy to forget the little things typical of all RPGs – namely, allocating skill points and keeping immersed in the world with new playstyles. There's a lot of DLC planned for 2021 for the game, including the long-awaited Spider-Man DLC and War for Wakanda. In the meantime, most players will be focusing on maxing out their favorite heroes.

12 Simply Play The Game

Before getting into the nitty-gritty of leveling a character, it's important to remember not to overthink things and get overwhelmed by the lack of direction in this game.

There are some ways to level faster and get top-class gear along the way. But still, essentially anything players do in this game will reward them with improved gear and minor artifacts. This will move gamers closer and closer to the 150 power level they desire. The most important thing is to just have fun.

11 Remember To Allocate Skill Points

Ms Marvel Skill Point Allocation Screen Avengers

Players receive skill points in Marvel's Avengers as they level up and progress their heroes. It's all too easy to forget that they are there, though. There's little indication that one has been received, aside from remembering when a character levels up or seeing it on the small on-screen HUD pop-up.

Skill points will make characters wildly more powerful over time. It's best not to avoid them, so spend time in the allocation screen to figure out which builds work for an individual's playstyle and hero.

10 Try A DLC Character To Keep Things Fresh

Since the release of Marvel's Avengers in August 2020, there have been several major updates. One of these brought new characters and scenarios into the game: the Clint Barton and Kate Bishop update. Clint Barton is, of course, the arrow-splitting sharpshooter Hawkeye featured in many of the MCU films. Meanwhile, Kate Bishop is Barton's protege (who also goes by Hawkeye).

If playing as the original quintet plus Ms. Marvel feels like it's getting old, players will be less motivated to max out each character. Change up the play, and give one of the Hawkeyes a try to keep things fresh.

9 Don't Get Too Attached To Gear And Artifacts

While grinding to 150, it may be tempting to hold on to a gear piece or minor artifact because of a certain perk or if it boosts one of the character's main stats. This isn't advised, as gear constantly improves as the game continues.

Players will constantly be replacing and discarding gear and artifacts in this game. It's one of the main ways to collect resources. Holding on to a lower-level gear piece will only make the leveling process take longer. Everything is expendable until gear and artifacts slots are dropping at 130.

8 Do Daily Missions

Marvel's Avengers Daily Missions

While raising faction levels won't help too much in boosting power level, what it will do is provide players the gear resource polychoron. The only way to raise a major artifact from one to ten is by investing a healthy amount of polychoron.

Boosting a major artifact of choice is one of the key components in hitting 150. Without this, the highest level players will be able to achieve is 141. Polychorons can be a bit of a chore to come by, so choose a major artifact wisely and try to avoid boosting ones that will eventually be replaced.

7 Harvest Upgrade Modules

Upgrade Modules in Marvel's Avengers

No matter the gear piece or minor artifact, boosting one of these will require one or two standard resources in addition to upgrade modules. This is an extremely important resource because it is needed to level anything that isn't a major artifact.

There is a lot of depth to the upgrading system and harvesting upgrade modules, so spend some time getting familiar with it. The best way to harvest upgrade modules is by burning through DNA chests on Elite Vault maps at Challenge Level 4. However, many missions (such as the Mega Hive) also reward upgrade modules upon completion.

6 Villian Sectors Are Important

Villain Sectors in Marvel's Avengers

Villian Sectors are an important tool in maxing out a character. While Daily Villain Sectors reward solid gear, polychoron, and DNA keys, players can run non-daily Villain Sectors and still get all of the rewards (besides polychoron).

Looting DNA chests at Challenge Level 4 is still the best way to farm upgrade modules. So if players ever find themselves low on them, spend some time running villain sectors to get DNA keys and then cycle through Elite Vault maps a few times opening DNA chests.

5 Grind Normal Vaults At Lower Levels...

Vaults in Marvel's Avengers

Because of the mass amount of enemies, Vaults allow players to fight in close quarters. Doing Vaults is a smashing good time no matter which character gamers are playing with, and they're great for power leveling as well.

While grinding Vaults isn't the only way to raise power level, it's generally one of the fastest ways to do it. This is because of the plethora of chests Vault maps unlock, and also because of the excellent rewards vaults give upon completion.

4 ...Then Do Elite Vaults At Higher Levels

Elite Vaults in Marvel's Avengers

Standard vaults have a maximum mission power ranking that every player will eventually pass, forcing a transition over to Elite Vaults. The gameplay is still the same in Elite Vaults, with plenty of grinding, but they are much more challenging than their standard variety.

Whether players are looting every chest on the map, or speed running to the finish line, cycling through Elite Vaults will help max out a character in a very short timetime. An important note is that Elite Vaults can also drop exotics upon completion, making these mission types all the more attractive.

3 Boost Major Artifact While Leveling

Major Artifact in Marvel's Avengers

While access to polychoron is easy through daily missions, actually saving up the resource takes time. Be sure to very carefully choose the major artifact you want to use before upgrading it. Upgrading a major artifact a few times before realizing that it's not the one for you is a waste of polychoron and time.

There's no need to be shy about spending the resource once the player is set on their major artifact. Boost it constantly while leveling, as there's no point in waiting until late progression.

2 Don't Upgrade Gear Or Artifacts Until They Hit 130

Gear in Marvel's Avengers

Getting attached to any gear piece prior to 130 is a mistake. Any piece lower than 130 won't be able to max out at 140 after upgrading it. This means that reaching the coveted 150 power level will be impossible.

As appealing as seeing a range rating boost by twenty percent is, or getting a perk like Quantum Shroud for Kate, if it's not coupled with a level 130 gear piece or minor artifact then it's not worth it. Don't succumb to the temptation.

1 After 130, Boost Anything, But Don't Force It

Upgrading in Marvel's Avengers

Once players hit 130 for your gear and minor artifacts slots, it's open season for using all those resources and upgrade modules. That said, if players haven't gotten a gear piece or minor artifact that they like in one of they slots, feel free to wait.

There's no rush in getting 150. Doing it with the exact stats and perks the player wants is far more satisfying than the alternative. Once gamers get the items for a build and boost them all to 140, all that's left is maxing out their major artifact to reach 150 power level.
