About a week ago, Rocket Raccoon was confirmed as a playable character in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite after showing up at the tail end of the story trailer for the forthcoming fighting game, but now the title's developers have decided to give fans a look at a one of the special moves for the Guardians of the Galaxy character in action. As it so happens, the maneuver contains a cameo from the genetically enhanced superhero's sidekick Groot.

As seen in the brief little snippet of gameplay embedded in the tweet below, Groot sets up his partner for the finishing blow by smacking around the villain Ultron for a bit before launching him into the air for Rocket Raccoon to deliver an explosive finale in the form of a blast from a giant plasma cannon. Hilariously enough, the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Twitter account recognizes the fact that the reveal of this move coincides with the motion picture release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with two hashtags reading "#ShamelessPlug" and "#MovieTieIn."

For those unaware, Rocket Raccoon made his first appearance in Marvel and Capcom's crossover fighting game franchise by being added to the roster of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 back in 2011. At the time, Groot was nowhere to be found, and Rocket spoke in a British accent as opposed to his Americanized one in the trailer above, with the forthcoming title's developers having now given the character a look and sound to coincide with how he's represented in the film series.

Of course, Rocket Raccoon is far from the latest character to be revealed as a returning fighter in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, as recent gameplay footage has confirmed the likes of Hulk, Chris Redfield, Strider Hiryu, and more as playable fighters. With any luck, developers will start eking out the rest of the roster with the reveal of characters from both the Marvel and Capcom camps that have never been in the series yet. At any rate, as the days, weeks, and months mount toward its release date, we will certainly learn more about what's to come.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is slated to release on September 19, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
