Without a doubt, ever since the confirmation during PlayStation Experience 2016 that Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite would be receiving a 2017 release, fans of the crossover franchise have been anxiously awaiting its arrival. Of course, now that the sequel has finally released to the legions of fighting game fans who are ready to wallop friends and foes alike in the title, the video game publisher and developer Capcom has decided to officially release the title's launch trailer today.

As seen below in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's launch trailer, practically every single one of the base game's 30 different characters receives some screen time, with the developers also making sure to show off the various modes and features available in the title upon release. To be specific, the footage touts the title's 2v2 combat, its cinematic story mode, the gameplay-altering Infinity Stones, as well as its arcade mode.

For those who may be a tad disappointed by Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's roster in the base game, as the majority of the characters have been carried over from the last entry in the series, the developers have already made sure to announce that more iconic fighters are on the way in the form of post-launch content. As it so happens, Capcom recently revealed all of the title's DLC characters, with Venom being the only one that is a returning member of the series.

Taking all of this into consideration, it will be interesting to see how Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite fares in the marketplace, especially when one acknowledges the core fan base's disappointment in the studio's decision to eschew the inclusion of any X-Men, as well as its choice to alter the title's mechanics from the third installment and make it more palatable for newcomers. Not to mention, with MvC: Infinite being one of many fighting games launching this year – Arc System Works' excellent-looking Dragon Ball FighterZ is coming down the pipeline to boot – many fans might end up waiting for the title's inevitable Ultimate Edition instead of purchasing it on day one.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
