Two new Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite characters were revealed on-stage at the EVO Championship Series today. Gamora from the Guardians of the Galaxy and Jedah from Darkstalkers will be joining the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite roster.

Both characters will be making their first appearances in the cross-over fighting game, though Jedah is obviously an old favorite fighter from his own franchise. Gamora also joins her fellow Guardian, Rocket Raccoon, and further reinforces that Marvel is focusing on Movie tie-ins as much as possible.

This was the seventh EVO to feature a Marvel vs.  Capcom 3 tournament, which launched in early 2011. It was also the final EVO to feature the game, and its inclusion was a close thing at that. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 won a fan donation drive, beating out games like Pokken Tournament and Killer Instinct.

In addition to the two new characters on the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite roster, the EVO build also debuted a reworked look for Chun-Li after complaints arise out of E3. The new model features several improvements, but is unlikely to persuade those in the fighting community frustrated with the new game's art direction. New complaints range from her huge hands to her oddly shaped nose texture.

Gamora utilizes a mix of sword attacks for melee and guns at distance, a diverse skill-set likely to make her popular in the hectic gameplay of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. She joins her fellow Guardian, Rocket Raccoon, who's returning after his appearance in MvC 3. It seems like Rocket is getting a helping hand from Groot this time around, too.

Jedah is likely to come as a huge surprise to many Marvel vs. Capcom players. While popular within the circle of Darkstalker fans, the franchise isn't exactly in high demand right now. Not to mention, Jedah's reveal is ahead of Darkstalkers characters like Felicia and Hsien-Ko, who fans are hoping still make the cut. But let's not disrespect the demon lord too much, because Jedah is certain to be a popular pick. The purple, scythe-wielding vampire's unique style is seemingly what Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is looking for.

For better or worse, the two new characters line up with the previous leaks regarding Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's full roster of 28 characters. If that leak holds true, there's 5 more non-DLC characters left to reveal, none of which come from Darkstalkers or the Guardians of the Galaxy. Those 5 are rumored to be: Firebrand (Ghosts 'n Goblins), Nemesis (Resident Evil), Monster Hunter, Ant-Man, and Spider-Man. Stay tuned for more reveals in the next few months.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite releases September 19, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
