Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is launching with quite the roster of playable fighters from both the Capcom and Marvel brands, but the game will add even more characters to the fray post-launch. In a recent blog post, Capcom's Andy Wong revealed four more DLC characters that will be coming to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite by the end of the year.

According to Wong, Marvel's Venom, Winter Soldier, and Black Widow are all on their way to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, as is the titular Monster Hunter from Capcom's Monster Hunter franchise. Work on these four characters is well underway, so expect to see them all in action within the next couple of months.

In fact, it's possible that fans may see one of these characters in action later this week. Tokyo Game Show kicks off on September 21st, and Capcom usually has a large presence at the show. Since Marvel vs . Capcom: Infinite is one of the company's biggest games releasing this year, Capcom may want to generate additional hype for it by revealing gameplay footage of one of the upcoming DLC fighters at the show.

If Capcom shows off one of the new fighters at Tokyo Game Show, it seems as though Monster Hunter is the most likely character to get the spotlight. Monster Hunter is huge in Japan, plus Capcom could use this addition to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite to drum up interest in the recently released Monster Hunter Stories on 3DS.

Whichever DLC character comes to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite first, fans should be looking forward to what seems to be an exciting slate of new fighters. However, others may be disappointed that there hasn't been any mention of X-Men characters, despite some previous leaks (which were apparently fake) suggesting otherwise.

Then again, fighting games have been receiving more post-launch support in recent years to the point that some games have had content released beyond the scope of their season pass. If Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite proves to be popular enough, perhaps it will last long enough to get even more DLC characters, like the X-Men and other characters missing from the lineup.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will launch on September 19th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
