Just in time for the holidays, Capcom has released a brand new trailer for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds featuring more of the roster of fighters in action, as well as teasing that more characters are yet to be revealed. Fans of the series will recognize the soundtrack as a remix of the Take You For a Ride character-select theme, and while no new fighters or stages are divulged in the trailer, it features most of the story details, characters, and fighting styles that have previously been released.
The amount of hype surrounding MvC 3 is reaching insane heights, with hardly a week passing without some sort of new trailer, or more fighters being added to the project. The developers have boasted a healthy roster of 32 characters included on the disc, with more to come through DLC. Following the remaining characters being leaked via twitter a few weeks ago, there's no doubt fans were hoping that the next MvC trailer would confirm the rumors, but no such luck.
To get an idea of why Capcom has such high hopes for the next entry in the series, have a look at this comprehensive summary of the insanity that the developer has in store:
The bit of the video that will undoubtedly get fans talking is the closing announcement that there are "More Characters To Come," with glimpses of the mystery fighters presumably being quickly flashed across the screen. Unfortunately, it would seem that there aren't any easter eggs to be deciphered, since the faces teased are those of C. Viper and Storm.
The two female fighters were revealed weeks ago, and while they are welcome additions, Capcom has already gotten their fans into the habit of chasing down every rumor surrounding the game with tenacity. We wish this latest video could add even more fuel to the fire, but the images teased appear to be of C. Viper's appearance in the Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 cinematic trailer, and Storm's unmistakable cape.
While this definitely doesn't mean that there aren't more characters soon to be revealed, it's a bit disappointing that Capcom didn't give more of a hint at what fighters will next be added to the roster. Fans shouldn't look too much into it, since it's most likely a sign that there wasn't high-quality footage of the next fighters, or the team simply doesn't want to reveal anything at this time. Keep hoping fans, and Mike Haggar may just be the next announced.
So fans will have to be content with a trailer that shows off gameplay, combinations, alternate costumes, and more fighting stages until Capcom decides to pull back the curtain once again. If the trailer is any indication, this game really is shaping up to be the definitive fighting title of this gaming generation.
Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds will hit stores with a veritable army of fighters this February 15, 2011 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Think you can make it?
