Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 continues to be a fondly remembered game in the eyes of the fighting game community. This classic pits the iconic superheroes and villains of Marvel Comics against the diverse cast of Capcom's library of games in an incredibly polished experience, with three-on-three team based battles. It is consistently regarded as one of the best fighting games of all time, with an active competitive scene represented at fighting game tournaments like EVO. It is no surprise that the game also has a very active modding community.

The modding community for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has evolved ever since the game came onto the PC in 2017. Many older mods for the game consisted of model or palette swaps, which can end up looking somewhat basic in quality. The latest strides made to the modding scene have broken through some of UMvC3's built-in limitations, which are allowing for more ambitious mods. These include alternate character skins for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 with custom attributes and costumes to match.

In a new video released by a group of modders, they showed off several new character skins that would be included in a new mod pack. Many of these are reskins of existing characters, while others are model imports that add in new characters. These custom characters occupy certain color slots for other existing fighters, but add new moves, characteristics, and animations. One of these characters is Rashid from Street Fighter 5, whom is a costume swap for Viewtiful Joe from the original game.

19 new characters are added through this modpack, with 10 from Marvel and 9 from Capcom. Some characters from other Marvel vs. Capcom games like Thanos, Psylocke, Ken, and Cyclops. Others are references to related to the characters and their history, such as a Dante skin based on his appearance in the first Devil May Cry game, or even a Scarlet Spider costume for Spider-Man.

The full trailer showcases each of these new fighters for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, along with a complete list of what has been changed. Rashid for example is focused on his various wind-based attacks and fast movement, which is translated into the game perfectly. As the modding scene continues to evolve, many fans should expect to see plenty of other custom characters added to the roster in the future.
