Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was released last month to rave reviews from many sources, after over a decade of wanting and pleading and waiting. Fans were set to kick ass and take names with an all-star cast from both sides of the spectrum. The final roster had its fair share of detractors, but it was by no means terrible, and the promise of more characters via DLC got fans eagerly wondering who else would make an appearance.
Perhaps they’ve got an answer, as an image that leaked onto the internet recently shows both Dead Rising’s Frank West and previous MvC fighter Strider Hiryu as characters in a match. The image shows life bars for both characters, as well as what appears to be Hiryu jumping out of the frame.
This isn’t the first time Frank West was considered to be a character. A while back, someone was able to get into the coding for the game, which revealed that data for West was already in the game, along with Spider-Man villain Doctor Octopus. At the time, the rumor of the two appearing via DLC in the future was brought up. It’s possible that this could confirm such a rumor, but we shouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet.
The picture itself is fairly low quality, but still good enough to spark discussion amongst gaming fans everywhere.
No information has surfaced as to just what this image is, or where it came from. Was it from an official version of the game with the DLC in place? Or was someone able to hack the game to get the characters? If it’s the latter, how was Strider Hiryu added? The aforementioned coding discovery didn’t show anything for Hiryu, unless that was overlooked. Did someone from Capcom’s offices leak this image to the internet? Was it someone who just happened to be in the right place at the right time?
Capcom has yet to mention this event, so it seems as though all we can do is be patient and keep our eyes open for further information.
What do you think? Does this confirm Hiryu and West to be future additions to the game? Was someone able to mess around with the game and add them in?
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is out now for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
